Help me decide which upgrade is the biggest bang for the buck?

Ditto. Get #4, Pmags and a good lube. My favorite lube is Slip 2000, but it matters less about what brand and more about keeping the the bolt wet.

Ammo wise, PMC is shooting better than anything else for me. Palmetto State Armory is selling cases for ~ $350 and shipping...

I've got the mags covered with Magpul old school 30 rounders.
Lube is covered as well with Mobil 1 10w 30.

you guys are making me reconsider spending extra cash on the bolt. I'm beginning to think I'll just go with #4 and spend the extra cash on a BCM gunfighter charging handle.

If you aren't actually intending to run the rifle through a carbine class or three, or attending high round count 3gun or tactical rifle matches, all of the improvements you list pretty well amount to pole vaulting over mouse turds.

Buy ammo or a reloading press. Run the gun hard, and when something fails, replace it.

i plan on taking a carbine class when i graduate after the fall. i'm just going to save for a new upper by then.
