I have decided on getting a S&W 629 .44Mag/44Spcl as my next Revolver. My delima is I can't make up my mind between the 5" full lug or the 6.5" full lug. I don't want a 4" because I have a 4" 686 in .357 andI don't like the look of the tapered lug.

The primary use will be for Camping/Hunting and I plan on pairing it with a Marlin 1894SS

As grandma used to say when playing Euchre...go big or stay home.

5"..... Better balance, feels better. I don't care for the heavy barrel hanging out front with the full lug guns. Some people do though.

I'd go with the 5" personally. I really wouldn't feel the need to have the extra 1.5" once you already have 5. Just my opinion, though. And you know what they say about opinions. They all stink. Except for mine because I wipe. :neener:

I have the blued version (model 29 Classic) with the 5" barrel, and it has excellent balance, and is very accurate. I recommend that you hold both, and see which feels better to you. If you're hunting and have the Marlin, I don't see any reason to lug around a revolver also, though. Not that I would let that stop me from buying one!
