Okay, you can see what I already have in the 11 listed in my signature.

I have three 9mm automatics, one SA/one DA revolver that shoots .357/.38, one snubby in .38 +P, two auto .22s and one wheel .22 that also shoots WMR, and two .45s (one of which is a 1911 type).

So, given what I already have, what one handgun would you recommend I add to my small collection. And please tell me why you recommend what you do.

Oh, and I like autos and wheelguns equally, despite my current mix of 7:4.

I welcome your recommendation and I thank ya' kindly.

Thanks!

+1 for a .44 mag (or bigger :what: ). You have a good array of concealable and service types; you're lacking a hand cannon that provides some - er - perspective!

How about a Makarov or a CZ-52. Something with some history. A TT-33 maybe. I saw some russian TTs listed in the shotgun news last month. 7.62X25 is quite the impressive round. As for the makarov, talk about a gun that will shoot anything you feed it.

Personally, I think I might dwelve into the polymer frame market myself for the next hand gun purchase. I never thought I would, but those XD's look pretty impressive.

Oddly enough, I have exactly a dozen handguns.

1. A model 1849 Colt (cap and ball)

2. A Colt .25 Automatic (my wife's gun, actually.)

3. A Ruger MK II automatic

4. A Colt Officer's Model Target (made in the 1930s)

5. A Colt Detective Special (my pocket gun)

6. A Colt M357 (which I carried my first tour in Viet Nam)

7. A Colt SAA in .357 (a present from my wife our first Christmas together, and a great woods gun.)

8. A Fed Ord M1911A1 (Built from a kit. Currently wearing a Ciener Conversion Kit.)

9. An Argentine Modolo 1927 (my carry gun for a long time. Currently wearing a Colt Service Ace Conversion Kit.)

10. A Kimber Custom Classic (my current carry gun.)

11. A Colt New Service in .45 Colt

12. A Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

Those all look like very practical handguns, so now you need something impratical--by which I mean little cannon that requires weight lifting to get in shape to carry it around.

A .30 carbine AutoMag III comes to mind.

Maybe a .454 or new .460 or .500 revolver?

A .44 magnum could be considered either way. A small bbl for defensive purposes, a 6" bbl with scope for long range target shooting, or maybe an AutoMag IV.

Clearly you need a 357 Sig caliber that can be converted to 40 S&W by a drop in barrel. Mine is a Sig 229 (and a 239) each of which are convertible by using the other barrel(the 239 requires extra mags for the convert caliber).

Glocks also can be so converted, and I have a G22, but I like the Sigs better. If you go this route get the original in the 357 as its recoil spring is a little stronger but will work with the 40, you can use the 40 spring for 357, but the gun will get battered a little more.

My suggestions: (some have already been suggested)
1. Colt/clone SAA
2. 10mm platform (revolver like S&W 610 or semi-auto)
3. Long guns (shotgun or rifles if you don't have one already...consider carbines loading for 22, 357, 45, since you already have the pistols to go with them).
4. let us know what you get :)

HK P7M8 or 13.

Why?

1. They are being discontinued.
2. They are fast and reliable.
3. They are unique in operation and design.

A Ruger SBH in 44 mag. Also, ditch the Neos and replace it with a better .22 automatic.

I already have a better .22 automatic. My Trailside works fine for me. As for the Neos, it's simply fun and cleans up easily.

My Stampede is a Colt SAA clone.

I have 2 12-gauge shotguns and an M1 Carbine.

So, far, I like the idea of a .44 magnum...

Since you're already buying .45 ACP ammo, why not a S&W 625? The little five-shot Taurus would be tasty too, if you want something a bit smaller.

I got hooked on .45 ACP in revolvers via a Ruger Blackhawk convertible years back. It shot so well that I almost never even got the .45 Colt cylinder dirty.

Mild recoil, 'way above average accuracy, and no digging through the weeds for brass. You can even play with full WCs and 250-255 gr. bullets if you handload.

+1 on the CZ-52. The CZ-52 would give you another fun caliber in 7.62x25, plus with a drop in barrel, you can make it 9mm. Presumably, you have plenty of 9mm ammo on hand, with 3 autos. :) However, I am biased toward big, steel, handguns, especially ones with 1500fps muzzle velocity.

You've got the range of autos and revolvers already fleshed out pretty well. Why not look into a Thompson Center Encore pistol? You can select from a raft of different chamberings to fit your mood that day. Just remember to warn the townspeople before you touch off a 30-06 in one of those things (see part number 1704)!

Good suggestions... I'm feeling more interested. Right now 625 sounds real interesting. I like shooting .45 ACP. I already have that ammo. I like the idea of adding Ahrend grips... But, the ida of a Ruger .45 Colt or even a .44 Magnum also has juice...

Asd for the .460. Yikes...Ouch...Shaazam...

Take a look at something fun, yet practical:

Two options that fit the bill; a nice 32 H&R magnum or the 500 S&W.

Reloading for either is a breeze, and keeps ammo cost in the .10 cents per round range - about as cheap to shoot as 9mm surplus.

The 500 is self explanatory.

The 32 H&R is one seriously cool little cartridge. You can fire 32 S&W ammo for cheap(er) factory fodder. It is somewhat of a sleeper, but ask ANYONE who owns or has shot one and I would wager the little magnum is at the top of their to buy list or never sell list. Great for kids, newbies and still packs a decent wallop for what it is.

Food for thought
