My wife and I own a Women's Apparel Store. No fancy name just,
Nancy's Fashions

We had two ladies open a womens apparel shop that was ment to cater to women in their 50's.
They named it "Fabulous Fifty's" Everyone thought it was a Retro nick nack
Shop! So the name is VERY Important. They had some of the same type products we had and only lasted 13 months because they NEVER sold out their opening inventory!!

No problems with "Guns'R'Us "

But "Guns ' я ' Us" might be problematic.

"Pistol Wood?
Rifle Wood?
I Would!
Call for prices."

Why not be up-front?

My advice is to select a name that is internet friendly, so you can have an easy-to-remember, easy-to-spell website. "customgunwood.com" or "customgunworks.com" or something. You can probably advetise on several gun sites and would get business. For old timers, I think family name may be important. John and Swift are both old fashioned names. "Swift's Custom Gun Wood" may do alright. Also the word quatlity may be beneficial. "qualitygunworks.com" or "qualitygunwood.com" would attract me as a buyer. I think backing the product is good, as is specifying dimensions. Good luck with your business!

Focusing on what I gather you are targeting for a market...

Classic Firearms Woodworking
Classic Wood Grips and Stocks
Classic Firearms Accessories

Something along those lines...

Jack the Gripper

This one's worth changing your name for!

Whatever you pick, your motto should be:

Your one-stop shop for stocks and Swift's grips.

Any customer who can say it 10 times fast gets a free set of grips.

If the first word in your name is Tactical, you'll get a million internet hits on your site per day, and will have more business than you can handle.

If you put the word Quality in your name, you'll get more business but spend half your time dealing with complaints and returns.

I'd recommend thinking up at least 3 names, so you can form 3 small businesses and have them compete against each other. "Woody's grips are a great value for the money, but if you're willing to spend a lot more, you can't beat the quality and workmanship of Best Grips." Same product, 10-fold difference in profit margin, the budget-minded guy is happy, the snob is happy, everybody wins.
