I want a 1911 but the amount of money I spend is an issue. I have a Sig Pro 2022 in .40 S&W. It's a good gun but I really want that 1911.

Should I keep the Sig and buy something along the lines of a RIA or should I sell the Sig and buy the Kimber that I've been eyeing?

Depends on what you want to do with it. I have 2 RIAs and they are very good weapons, reliable, durable, and accurate. If you want bragging rights, of course the Kimber will let you show off more. Do you want something that just works or do you need something to show to your buddies?

I would, if that helps any. Kimber makes a fine 1911 at a good price. Of course you won't be satisifed if you have to sell one. Which is why I don't sell guns anymore.

I'd keep the SIG. You already know it works. You never know these days what you'll get with a 1911, they can be somewhat hit or miss, and any of the clones are suspect. Price has noting to do with how well the gun works.

I've owned upper end Kimbers and Springfields and a few others and only ever trusted my Colts with my life.

I'd be (and have been) annoyed if I sold something that worked, for something that wasnt reliable or needed help, especially if I paid extra to get it.

I am one that finds it hard to part with any of my collection... may take a bit longer but I save up and just add to it.

As long as the gun continue's to fill a niche in your collection and it is working well without issue I would hate to sell it. If it HAS to be one or the other then your stuck

If you feel like you want the Kimber, do that. You are going to sometime anyway. I wanted the EMP, but it was too expensive. I found myself looking at the EMP on the internet continously. Finally, I broke down and sold somthing that I didn't use much. Feed the Hunger!!!

Hello

keep the Sig.
Save your money a bit longer and get the Kimber.
One day you will kick yourself for not keeping the Sig.
I don't think 1911's or Kimbers in particular, are the end all. I have 2 Kimbers, a SA loaded and 2 Para's. I like them all, but each one, besides the Para's has not been 100% reliable. My Glocks and Sigs have always been 100%. They're just not as pretty as the 1911's.
Plus factor in ammo cost. .40 is still cheaper than .45. Of course, I might sell your Sig Pro in .40 for the same model in 9mm:D

If the Sig is reliable, I wouldn't get rid of it. Just think of all the threads you have read about people having trouble with a new handgun. You could be next, and then you would wish you had the Sig.

I agree with the others, save up for the Kimber. Kimber is not going out of business any time soon.

Keep the Sig and buy a Taurus PT1911. I'm sure the Kimber is a better pistol, but except for the finish and being a bit more picky about ammo, I'm haven't seen anything you get for the extra $500 you don't have in the Taurus.
