I don't have any of the following weapons and I have all of my self defense needs, EOTWAWKI needs, and home protection needs met. I just like collecting and shooting different arms and have a C&R license. I've got $5K to spend. Vote for the guns you would pick and reasons why totalling about $5,000.

For clarification: I have another pot of money for ammo.

For clarification: I already have a Bushmaster AR that I am mildly happy with. Would like a piston driven AR or a variant like Magpul.

My EOTWAWKI setup includes a PTR91, AR15, 12 guage pump 870, scoped .3006 (for ammo commonality, I would like to have a scoped .308), and .40 Glock 35. I already have several 9mm CZ75s.

YOU CAN VOTE FOR SEVERAL OPTIONS TOTALLING $5K.

Whatever you buy, send them all to me. I promise to break them in for you, feed them regularly, and keep them handy just in case you ever need to bug out to Utah. :D

Not clear as to what your interests are, rifles? shotguns? handguns?

...so I'll recommend one of these....
Wilson Combat Classic SUPERGRADE.....$4220.00, spend the rest on ammo.
Life is too short to not own at least one of the finest handguns ever built.

$5k will get you a less expensive machine gun. Do you have any MG's yet?

If not, and you have all your other needs met, as indicated by your introduction....
I'd prolly choose a nice S&W 76 or Sten. A couple more k's will get in Uzi territory, or a Sterling.

M1A, spend the rest on magazines and ammunition. While SMGs are useful, they're also absurdly simple to make. If the end of the world comes, laws will no longer matter. I can't see spending $4k on an open bolt SMG.

Send a little money this way, I'll help!
I would get:
AR 15
AK 47
CZ 75
M1 garand
Para Ordnance

I'm waiting with anticipation about the SCOTUS decision because it may open many doors if it's strongly worded language pro 2A.

If that's the case, I will wait awhile until prices come down, and invest in a few full auto versions once they hit mass production.

invest in a few full auto versions once they hit mass production.

Ain't gonna happen.

As much as I would love for my MG's to lose their value in the process of getting more, it just is not happening in this lifetime.

Well, as long as you're optimistic about it, there's hope. ;)

You didn't put in any ammo. All the guns in the world will do you no good if you don't have ammo.

Spend $3000 on guns and the other $2000 on reloading equipment, components, and factory ammo.

You must rescue a Garand and a carbine from the CMP before Preznit Obama has them melted down.

Russian Tokarev pistol $200
You mean Romanian. A wartime Russian will run you several times more. M-1 carbines and Garands can also be double to triple your figures depending on rarity and condition.

oooohhhhh.... and SBR or suppressor... hadn't thought of that... I'll look into it.

Give me the low down on the tax stamps needed. Is the suppressor limited to a single weapon or transferable to several?

I will wait on the 'tax stamp' issues until after the SCOTUS decision because I expect things may change in our favor quite dramatically.

Heck, by the time my deployment is over both the SCOTUS decision AND the presidential election will be a thing of the past...

Buy what you can afford to shoot after the 5K is gone. Sure a Barrett is great when you have the cash but unless you can afford the 50cal rounds....it's a BIG paperweight.

Buy things you'll actually shoot.

Get a nice battle rifle, about 15 magazines and 3,000 rounds of ammo. Spend the rest on a nice .22 or two and teach others how to shoot.

To those that are answering "buy ammo" - I appreciate the advice, but I have quite a lot of ammo now and am still buying it with a different "pool" of money earmarked for ammo. Ammo is a commodity for us, basically, and will fluctuate in availability and price. Right now the market is inflated due to war, dwindling supplies, and increases metals, shipping prices and oil prices. This will fluctuate.

The other practical problem with buying ammo is that I will intend to move across country with the Army in a year and that means I have to move the ammo myself. It's hard to move a lot of ammo, and moving it eats away at any savings from buying in bulk.

I have some concern about the availability of guns more than ammunition in the near future. I am optimistic about the SCOTUS decision coming in June. However, I like collecting guns and am trying to decide where to put my next $5k.

I also already have a .22 rifle and do teach others to shoot lots of different guns.
