M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, a Colt 1911 and ammo for all of them.

That way you can have a nice collection of most of the US military small arms from WWII. I'd wait on a Thompson or Grease Gun for now. ;)

I will wait on the 'tax stamp' issues until after the SCOTUS decision because I expect things may change in our favor quite dramatically.
Even if the '86 restriction on MGs was magically lifted it won't affect SBRs or suppressors, those have always been available so don't expect a price drop. The only nice thing that could happen there (besides a repeal of the NFA in it's entirety, which I wouldn't count on) is them moving to title I or the stamp price dropping to $5 instead of $200.
In short, don't let the SCOTUS decision hold you back if considering a SBR or a can (or both).
It looks like the M1A is doing well :D

Is a supressor designated for a single weapon, or interchangable?

If interchangeable, what are the practical limitations based on design?

Do they affect accuracy? Wear out? Significantly reduce noise? I would think they are useful for the range? I recon I'd have to also replace all of my pistol barrels?

Ah, you left off my #1 choice; a Garand sniper rifle. Those in really good condition you can get for about $3500 from CMP. I keep hoping money will fall out of the sky and I can someday justify spending that much on one rifle.

ETA: other than that, get the Para with the engraving. You'll treasure that someday. So will your children.

Springmom

A nice 1911, ammo, mags , holster, springfield m21 white feather, some ammo, mags, scope, bipod, i think this would be a nice set up, maybe a mossberg 590 or somthing for HD.

I pick Barrett, since I am a serious long range competitor, and I also picked the Para 1911, for home and self defense.

Interchangable as long as it's the same caliber the suppressor is made for and has the same size threaded end (like 1/2"x28tpi is common) or same flash hider if it's a quick detach. So no, it's not registered for use with a certain weapon or anything. It's on it's own.
You can use a .22 can on all your .22 rifles and pistols as long as the barrels are threaded the same. You could even use a .223 can on a .22lr as well (same bullet diamater) but it wouldn't be as effective and will be larger and heavier than a .22lr can, so you wouldn't want to use it on a pistol. You don't want to use a .22lr can on a .223 because it can't handle the pressures and will get damaged. Pistol calibers are easy, 9mm can works on all 9mm pistols and rifles, etc.

They usually don't change point of impact much (maybe an inch at 100yds) and in some cases increase accuracy. They are great for shooting without bothering neighbors, without wearing ear protection, reducing muzzle flash and muzzle rise, and teaching new shooters (since it takes away a lot of the bang, flash, muzzle flip). They may wear out after a looong time but you can clean them and they can be repaired if damaged (by the manufacturer). The .22lr cans are usually "hollywood quiet" or close to it. Bigger calibers aren't like hollywood but are usually down to the level you could shoot without hearing protection. You'll still get ballistic crack from supersonic ammo which sounds kind of cool when the origin is muted.
Usually for pistols you'll need an extended/threaded barrel if you want to be able to mount the can on it but those usually aren't super expensive, I think glock ext. threaded barrels are about $100 at LWD last time i checked. Some guns just need an adapter like the Wather P22.

i voted for m1a, ak, and ar. with the money you have left over you can get ammo, and accesories for the guns as you need. and mags.

I voted for an ARish thing, an M1 Carbine, and a Tokarev. Why? I assume you have none of the options on the poll, and an AR is a "must have", and I love my M1 Carbine/refuse to part with it. And I'm thinking of C&Ring a Tokarev myself, so....

There you have it. The rest goes to ammo or dies.

If it were my $5000, I'd look at one of the high end Garands from Fulton Armory or Clint Fowler. I think both guarantee 1 MOA or less...Fowler's might be .5 MOA. Either way, you'll have a tack driver with SOUL that can handle anything you ask of it. Maybe invest in one of the M1D or M1C scope mounts just to have around for added versatility. Spend some of your earmarked ammo money on a few crates of M2 Ball from CMP. Relatively cheap right now and comes with the 'clips' already attached...in bandoleers too!

Next, I'd look at a CZ-75 but not in .40. God intended for the 75 to be 9mm. Grab a bunch of mags for this guy too!

Also, invest in a couple parts kits for the above weapons and you'll have a dead-nuts reliable EOTWAWKI setup.

Lastly, I'd take a serious look at either a reproduction PPSh or PPS-43. Both are being offered by a couple companies. Can't tell you anything about build quality, but if they prove to be reliable over time, it'd be a formidable 'throw over your back' weapon to complement your CZ and Garand. The ammo is plentiful and dirt cheap right now too!

I know you said you had all your emergency needs met, but from my point of view, it makes no sense to me to have any tool that's not up to task and therefore just a toy. All these guns would be equally at home at the range or in a mud filled trench!

Mosins Nagants! You need Mosin Nagants!
Then you can spend the other $4912 on ammo!

I agree, but buy 50 mosin nagants and start your own army.

I want to say get the Barrett.. they may not be around forever. m1 carbine too.

I voted for the .50 cal, there's just something about being able to put a hole through an engine block at 1000 yards :D ......I don't really know if it can do that, but what a round.

Even though you are probably getting tired of hearing it, I also am a proponent of having “enough” ammo or reloading components to last “a while”. With respect to it being heavy and difficult to transport, deal with it. As far as firearms, consider buying a bunch of stripped AR lower receivers, and even stripped upper receivers if you want to guard against even more restrictive possible, future legislation. Mags of greater than 10 round capacity would be a wise thing stockpile. Learn from history. I personally will not spend a ton of money on full-auto toys. As has been said, if our civilization falls you can convert stuff easily enough. I do like the idea of something solid in 50cal, again with enough ammo and/or reloading supplies to keep it in use. The anti’s have a hard-on to ban 50cal stuff. I am sure you would feel pretty darn good about your purchase 3 years from now if non-blackpowder 50cal firearms had been banned for civilian sales with only a grandfather clause.

My only experience with PO is very bad, so I say do not buy any Para products.

hmmm wheres the option on the poll that says give all the money to
peck1234? : )
