I'll make this short, or at least try to..... Two nights ago I had a dream... I currently carry a P-32 as my carry weapon. Well, in my dream I had to use it. I don't remember all the particulars except for this: It JAMMED EVERY TIME I tried to fire it. I know I know.... this was just a dream..... but it did get me thinking about purchasing another gun for conceal carry.

So..... here are my options: I can keep or sell the P-32, I have been looking at the P-3AT and a Glock 26. I have some extra cash so I'm looking at having about $500 or so to spend. I am NOT dead set on an auto-loader but auto-loaders are all I have ever owned.

I like to know if anyone has some suggestions. I know that whatever I get will be larger than the P-32..... the P-3AT is the same size. Does anyone know how much larger the Glock 26/27 than the P-32? Revolvers..... I'm open to all suggestions as well.

Being down here in the South it is a little bit harder to conceal, so that is going to be a factor as well.

Any and all help is welcome.... of ya, anyone else have a dream where your weapon does not function?

Jack

No matter what I've tried, I keep going back to the j-frame S&W wheelgun. Lately, I've really learned to appreciate the 640 & it's lightweight brothers :) Plus, if you shop around, you'll find them well bellow your target price!

anyone else have a dream where your weapon does not function?

My guns used to malf in my dreams all the time. After I started practicing more and gaining more confidence in my shooting, my guns started working right in my dreams. Maybe its a psychological confidence thing going on...

Since you are willing to go a little larger why not a P11? Small yet has 10 rounds of 9X19mm that I can put on a 9" paper plate at 50 feet rapid fire.

BTW have most of your other dreams come true too? If not take just keep the P32.

When I dream about firearms it seems that everyone ELSES malfunction and I can't even find mine and end up having to fight with melee weapons. Go figure.

There were a couple instances where I had to kick much ???. I believe it was when I was playing the "Infiltration" mod for Unreal Tournament a lot. I had an MP5 with 4 extra mags. Kicked lots of ???. Did I mention the ???-kicking part?

I'm in the South, yep- hot and humid, trick is to dress around the gun. My "usual" carry is full size 1911, J/K frames. Do have a Keltec P-11, more of an experiment/niche gun. Good belt/ holster and change of dress habits.

Dreams: mine are usually finding great deals with NO cash.

Two dream-snippets that I remember because they were so odd

The first is that I'm in the passenger seat of a car that is chasing another car and I'm using a AR- type rifle to shoot at the leading car. I'm not seeing any evidence that I'm hitting the target so I start concentrating harder and wake my self up.

This was several years ago and to that time I'd never cared for the black rifle since it usually was only in .223, so whyinhell would I dream of using one? Even worse to be shooting from a moving car. Oh well it was just a dream.

The next strange one was that I was working in an older type sawmill and we (the crew) were driven off towards town by an attacking force. This time I've got some lever-action rifle and I get caught on a third-story stair landing when a "enemy" transport helicopter comes in to land in the courtyard below. I begin firing at the helicopters engine/trans area at close range and again I think I should see some sort of damage and start concentrating harder and wake myself up.

The common thread of both is the fear of not hitting the target, ie not performing to potential I guess.

Now I just need to figure out the one from last night where I was deep-sea diving to salvage a lost deep submergence sub (***??!! :) ) and as long asd I was on the bottom with the sub I had that something-behind-you creepiness that you used to get as a kid and ghost stories were being told. Soon as I departed for the top the feeling went away. Maybe it was Cthulhu :D

I would, and just may, go with the Kahr PM9. The Glock is substantially bigger than either the P3AT or the PM9.

I have had dreams for years that whenever I would punch someone, the punches would be totally ineffective. It would wake me up with cold sweats. Many years after these dreams began I did have to hit someone... once. I haven't had the dreams since.

May you never have to disprove your dreams the way that I did.

The P3AT is essentially the same gun as the P32. If there's a jam problem, it probably will have it also. I think either is good for backup, but primary carry I use a 1911. It really shouldn't matter, as long as it starts with a "4".

I had a dream once where I was on a submarine run by little pigs in sailer suits? No kidding really.:what:

Anyway I think it is a very common gun owner dream to dream that you have to use a weapon and something doesn't work either you or the gun.

Gun dissassmbles/falls apart
can't hit anything
gun jams
trigger pull is 10,000 pounds and can't be pulled.
bullets hit but do nothing.
can't find gun.
Etc.

I have had a couple of them and most other gun owners I know have too. We as gun owners spend a lot of time preparing for the worst and as such build what if scenarios in our head. We also know that no matter what kind of mechanical object we use it CAN fail and it CAN fail at the WORST time. That is a lot of pressure we put on our collective psyche, it's gonna come out at some point.

If your KT is reliable and you are comfortable with it don't get rid of it because of a dream. It is a proven weapon to you. A new gun whether another KT, a Jennings, a SIG or a KORTH will be unproven and therefore could indeed be a lemon.

Anybody care to comment on my pork run submarine.?

One more thing,

Now if you are just looking for a nice tidy psychological excuse for the purchase of another gun......have at it.

Honey, you wouldn't want me carrying a gun that causes me to lose sleep because then I will be grouchy and want to sleep during the time I should be spending with you................:barf:

Actually, the P3AT ought to be more reliable since the .32 ACP is a "compromise" cartrige that is semi-rimmed so it could be used and extracted in European revolvers that were popular at the time and in mag-fed autos.

However, since the rim protrudes a tiny bit further than the case wall, if the rim of the .32 round above in the magazine get's behind the rim of the one below it you can lock up pretty hard. Not an indictment of the P32, just .32 ACP in general. Good magazine design and careful loading can usually prevent this.

Also, some manufacturers like Cor-Bon shave a few thousandths off the rims of their .32 ACP recognizing that the chance of someone trying to use it in a revolver are pretty slim. The only .32 ACP revolver I can even think of off the top of my head would be a mil-surp Russian/Soviet Nagant fitted with one of the popular .32 ACP conversion cylinders since that funky Nagant ammo is pretty expensive and rare.

I'd reccomend up-gunning to the P3AT since if you were only carrying a P32. The manual of arms is identical, and as a P32 user, it sounds like you have concealment issues, and small size is important. If you're used to the P32, even something like a G26/27 or a Kahr PM9 will seem gigantic in comparison.
