ANY Taurus revolver will be of good quality. I bought a 5-shot Taurus 605 .357 snub nose for $289 new. It was the first handgun I concealed regularly.

I'll throw out my standard plug for these threads: FM hi-power detective. Sarco still has them, though they have upped the price to $325 which may put you just over your range when shipping and transfer fees are added in. I would also have to recommend Mec-gar magazines as a requirement for social work - the feed lips on the ones that shipped with my gun started to open up after several hundred rounds.

Used S&W 642, 637, 442
I got my 637 NIB for just under $350 a few years ago.The hammerless and shrouded hammer models were WAY more popular then the 637 with the hammer, so even now, finding one NIB for $350 shouldn't be too hasrd.I've seen 'em at shops and shows in WA and OR for that within the last year or so still.I love mine, and I personally think its plenty small and light enough for deep ccw or pocket carry.

Bersa 45. A little fat in the grip, but fairly slim slide area. Would work in IWB or OWB. Used to be cheaper, may have to look to find it under $350 now.

Check out the 28oz titanium .44 2.25" snubby from Taurus, a used one should definitely be within your price range; just note that due to the double latch lock you probably could not reload it during a hot moment, so 6-shots is all you get!

Photo is of the 4" model:

The orange backstrap is to aid concealment, :)

The link you posted did say that they were bad guns, he said they were not worth upgrading do the extreme cost of replacing that many parts to make them a "world class" gun. You don't buy a taurus to turn it into a super slick world class gun, you buy it becouse the price is right and they are reliable and accurate. They also have a good reputation for customer service, but I have never had to send one off.

I would not recomend their automatics so highly based on my personal experience, the only one I have seen fired demonstrated very poor accuracy. One mans experience does not mean they are all bad though, my first pistol was a glock 22 that would not hit paper at 25 yards from a cold bore. Most people have excellent results with their glocks, and I have since gotten a g26 that performs very well.

I get around the hammer in the gut thing by building my own holsters with a gut protector. ROFL! I don't carry without decent leather, personally.

Taurus is fantastic. Rossi is as low as I would go, but they're decent guns. 642 Smiths I've found NEW for under 350, never a bad choice. Used guns are out there, but I'm just talkin' new. Then, there's Kel Tec, love my P11 and a P3AT is next on my list. :D I ain't real enamored with .380, but it will get the job done and talk about your concealable handguns!

Save about 150 more and buy a better gun cz,glock or an xd

If the OP gets a copy of the CDNN catalog there are many good options in that thing. They do have some XDs for slightly more, around $420 but as others have noted, they a good number of handguns that could fit the requirements.

Right now the deals on German police trade in Sig P6's (P225) are hard to beat and the quality is excellent.

ruger p95

Ruger p95 ,I here is good never shoot one but would buy it before a taurus anyday

All you guys that hate Taurus please don`t fuss at my to much. I just brought home a new M85 Ultra-Lite 2in. 38 SPL. I traded in my somewhat trusty one year old Kel-Tec P-3AT and $75 out the door. Trigger is smooth and it fills real good in my hand. I`ll let ya`ll know how it shoots when i can get to the range. Let me ask ya`ll this though, the fellow at the gun shop said that he would not shoot P+ from it but the Taurus web site said it was P+ rated. Yes or no?? It seems that all SD rounds come in P+, at least thats all i have found so for. All comments bad or good are welcome. Thanks, Karl

tautus 85

That is the same gun I have.I ground the hammer off with my grinder now I can carry it without it poking me in the gut.Shoots good at 7 yards. The Quality just is not there like my 2 ruger revolvers

Stoeger Cougar 8000 in 9mm or .40
As an earlier post stated----if you can find one. I was fortunate in finding one in 9mm at the second store I tried and it was the last one in stock.
The price is in your range if the demand hasn't driven the price way up. I am very happy with mine and have had no negative issues. It is an accurate shooter.

My 3" SP101 cost $360 at Sportsmand Warehouse and is one of the most versatile firearms you can get. I carry it daily IWB at 4 oclock. I have seen CZ 75B around $350 as well. You can do well shopping around, but my recommendation is not to be penny wise and pound foolish. Get the right gun.

My S&W 642 was $325 NIB. My PF-9 was $278 NIB. Both have been perfect. The 642 is almost always in my pocket when I'm off duty.

For nearly a year I've carried a PT145 Millennium Pro Stainless Slide. It has been 100% and cost $320 and $20 for Elite IWB.
