Ok, got my DD M4 LW on Saturday and am in need of a scope to go on it. Something with and adjustable range and something that is illuminated and will not break the bank would be nice. I was looking at the Nikon P223 and I really like the features of it but it is not illuminated. I want something that I can use in low light if need be. I would love and Acog but I just bought his thing for a grand and I have multiple rifles I have to buy scopes for Sonia am trying to ^^^do this as cheap as possible. Any suggestions? I was also going to throw some emergency sights and a red dot on top angle mounted of course. Are the magpul MBUIS sights any good or would you go with some aluminum sights?

I have a Nikon P223 and like it. But, like you said it is not illuminated. Besides the P223, I have a number of other Nikon scopes.

In my opinion, optics is not a place to go cheap. I agree ACOGs are a bit pricey and i would have trouble justifying one of them. There are good, name brand units that would be serviceable yet not require access to Fort Knox for payment.

But I would avoid the low end stuff. I am usually been disappointed when I have purchased bargain priced optics.

It's hard to beat the Magpul back up sights for price and durability. You can certainly go more expensive but most people use irons as a back up option and an optic as a primary.

I just put an Aimpoint PRO on my 6920 and has been fantastic. They can be found for around $400.00. The battery life is great, easy to install and is the best 'bang for the buck' in my opinion. Also have the magpul rear buis and it is just fine.
Keep us posted as to what you decide.

Magul mbuis is fine for backup sights.

I to would buy the mueller 1-4 speed dot if a low power optic was needed . Gives you the close up options with a lighted dot if you feel you need it.

For a scope not many offer both low power and highend at an afordable price today but Sightron SI line has a nice 2.5-10x44mm scope that is around 182 bucks and would offers a wide enought power range to see very well in very low lighting and still work well at 400 to 600 yards.

As a hunter lighted recitals can and does take away from peripheral vision in low light. Nice to be able to turn it off or leave it off.

My AR with handle, sports a Leupold see-through handle mount that sits in the U at the top of the handle. A single bolt securely holds it solid to the handle. Then, I have Leupold Low Quick-Release Rings that tighten right into that scope base. The scope is a Leupold Vari-X-I 3-9x40mm (model 56600-A).

I like this combination as all the components and scope are in matte finish as opposed to shiny. They all look like they fit right on the AR. I have no problem whatsoever with the height of the scope, as, with the shortest rings, the scope is not much higher than the OEM sights which are still in place.

I can remove or reinstall the scope in less than 30 seconds, and when those QR Rings are tightened-down, the scope is perfectly RIGHT-ON! The setup is so nice, I don't have to wonder when I remove the scope or reinstall it onto the rifle whether it will still be on zero, IT IS ON ZERO EVERY TIME!

If I want to go open iron sights, I simply remove the scope with attached rings and sight through the Leupold base mount. The hole in the base mount does take a bit of getting used to, however, it is nothing that 50 to 100 rounds one-time, figuring it out doesn't 'fix'!
