I have gone back to the KISS principle with my "Go-To" carbine. The specs on the upper are: BCM lightweight midlength upper with fixed FSB and Daniel Defense A1.5 fixed rear.
I am wanting a Aimpoint comp 3 or comp4s. I am wondering with the fixed rear if I should get a taller mount for a lower 1/3 co-witness. Or the standard full co-witness. Either way it will be in the Larue mount for quick relase if it takes a poop on me.
I must confess, I am more of a tinkerer and a assembler than a shooter. I am changing that. What good is a safe full of AR's if you cant shoot em? I plan to find some sort of rifle classes or something similar to IDPA for rifles (any suggestions?) For those who shoot competitivly what works for you? Paging Zak.
My only experience is with a EOTech and absolute co-witness with flip front and rear. It was fine I just have moved away from flips for this rifle. With fixed rear can I hold my head up and "float" the dot above the front sight? Or will it lower to the FSB?
I was recently put in a situation where I could only grab one pistol and one rifle and had to leave my house. This was my one rifle out of 4 other AR-15's, AR-10, FN PBR...you get the idea. (The pistol was my G30SF for those interested) It is that important to me. I want to keep it simple. Reliability is paramount. Money is not an issue. This is my SHTF/Zombie/or just take my son to the range gun. This gun gets more use than any other centerfire rifle in my collection.
Any other thoughts, tips, etc. will be appreciated.
Thanks
