I want to start reloading for my mini-14 (.223) and since the powders listed are not what I already have, I could use some help picking a powder and load. Something that throws good, (not pencil lead). Example, my 308 loves H380 and it throws great. I plan to start with the Sierra 52 gr. H.P.B.T. but since I've not bought anything yet, I'm open to all suggestions.
Thanks
Dan

BLC2, AA2015, Win 748 all meter well and are suitable. Although I haven't tried them, H335 and the Ramshot powder (TAC?) are supposed to be good as well.

reloading for mini-14

I shoot and reload for a mini-14 and here are my powders; WW748 and VihtaVuori N-133. I'm using a 55gr bullet. my first loads of 24 gr.s of n-133 and 26.5 gr.s ww748 would not work the action of the rifle. I moved up to 27.5 gr.s of ww748 and 25 gr.s of n-133 and these loads will work the action. these are not anywhere near max. loads.
I"m just trying to replace some ammo thats been the closet for the last 30 years or so. Both of these loads shoot much lower than what I've got to get rid of. So, I need to do some more work on them. But it could be a start for you.
let me know how your doing with your loads

Disclaimer .. I offer the following in good faith ... it is a record of my own experience and not a specific recommendation.

I have for a long time stuck to V- V N-133 under a std 55 FMJ .... I also had problems with Mini when loading too light. This round cycles just fine. I did find tho it is not too tight a grouper thru my Ruger 77 MkII .. and would have to play with it some I think to tighten it up in that rifle.

Experiment with sub-max loads in your gun until cycling is reliable .... should be possible to stay under absolute max.
