Getting pretty frustrated with my shooting. I seem to shoot high and to the left all the time. Take my time, breath, squizeing trigger. Checked a chart that points out that I am:
1-Pushing anticipating recoil
2-Trigger finger not placed correctly on trigger.

I've tried using the pad of my finger and at the first joint still having problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Pistols in use Walther P22, Walther P1 and CZ Rami.
Thanks

Looking over the sights as the shot breaks can cause that, too. Make sure you watch the front sight rise and settle back down after recoil, i.e. follow through, before looking at the target for the bullet hole.

are you right handed? Many people actually push to the left when they pull the trigger. Watch your finger motion without a firearm. I found I was doing that instead of pulling to the right (which is what happens when I jerk the trigger)

Forget for just a minute the actual placement of the shots on the target and tell me about the group size. If the group is extremely tight then it means there is nothing wrong with your technique and what is required is an actual sight adjustment. Q: Fixed or adjustable sights? At what range are you having this problem? Try moving the target in closer to within 10 feet or further out to say 21 feet. Then get back to me. And we'll see what the issue is, then. What are your barrel lengths, btw? I have the Walther P22 with the short barrel and it's not terribly accurate. But I'll bet I can tighten up my groups if I get the target barrel and extension shroud and swap the units. I just don't use it that often except when I instruct a novice shooter.

I"m with exsoldier, How is your group size? but I'd like to add 2 things -
1. Grip - you might be holding it to tight with 1 hand. Use an even grip. Think of it this way, you are using 2 hands together cause you only have 1 grip. If you had 2 grips would you hold 1 tighter than the other or would you hold them even.
2. Follow through. You must focus on the front sight and stay there. Don't follow your shots, but rather try to call them.

Shoot safe - I do.

Any formal instruction? I've seen amny think it's a simple aim and pull the trigger. More to it than that. Correct grip, finger placement and the whole push/pull of the arms plays the biggest factors of accurate shooting.
Have some one take the gun, and have them either load it with one shot or with nothing at all. Squeeze the trigger and see how much you move in anticipation of the recoil. If there's no live cartridge to fire, your movement should be none. If it's occuring with each gun you fire, souns like it's a problem with improper technique.
