Hey all i have another new and exciting question for the THR gun gurus

I just acquired a post '64 Winchester 30-30 and i would like to put a leather sling on it. i have been thinking of the marlin band with stud for the front but am having a hard time finding something for the rear. i would like a leather butt cuff that holds some ammo and possible has a sling swivel attached. i really like the simply rugged butt cuff but am not sure if i can get them to mount a sling swivel for me. also i am a lefty so you have to take the wrong handedness into the equation.

tanks for all the answers that i should hopefully get and more power to those who can help me out of this conundrum.

You could have a screw in stud installed - or do it yourself if you have a decent shop (you CAN just drill a hole with a hand drill screw it in but there are lots of ugly butts that had that done).

buy the Uncle Mike's sling swivel set that has the barrel band for up front and the wood screw for the stock. Secure the stock, drill the pilot hole about an inch to an inch and a half from the butt, and screw that stud in with a nail through the hole. A whack on top of the stud with a hammer helps get the threads started down the hole. Just make sure you drill perpendicular to the bottom of the stock, and drill right in the centerline of the stock. Attach the front band by removing the tube mag, slipping the band on, reinstalling the mag, positioning the band where you want (ideally right in front of the handguard), and tightening it down. The set comes with 1" swivels, but I replaced mine with 1.25" so I could mount better slings.

Agree with henschman. Did that on my 94 Trapper. However, the Trapper had a little round rubber plug in the bottom of the buttstock. When I pried that rubber plug out, the swivel stud screwed right in (after putting a small pilot hole in the center).

does someone know who makes the forearm band that i can buy with the stud attached to it cause i not have a rear stud but no front. and thank you very much henschman for the help it worked like a charm.

Mine had a screw in already on it so I just slipped on an elastic ammo holding cuff, cut a hole for the sling stud, & snapped on the sling. Works a treat for me.

Uncle Mikes makes the half bands that clamp on the tubular magazine. This should be your best bet.You can order the kit with the rear stud and the front band,Just measure your band and check the site to order.
