Help with first 1911, 9mm

Elk,

i've shot the XDM45 in 9mm. i liked the gun, accurate. it was my first time shooting anything and at a range last summer. shortly after i wanted to get into the hobby. started reading up on what to buy as a first pistol. i wanted to do a 9mm being that it would be cheaper to shoot. one of my favs that i shot was the CZ 75b and the beretta 92fs. i shot the sig 226 but i wasn't too comfortable, mostly due to the grips hurting my hand, i got smaller hands. though if i recall, it was accurate but after 30 rounds it was hurting a couple of my fingers.

then i started seeing the 1911's. they look strictly beautiful. i didn't know much of it until i started doing my hw and registered on a couple of gun sites to get some more knowledge. then since i found out some brands make them in 9mm, i thought it would be perfect. i have extra cash to burn and i just want to make sure i make a smart purchase that will last me in the long run.

I have narrowed it down to the Springer target or loaded but people tell me the loaded is better as the target is 'tighter' meaning it could get dirty in the important places.

i was searching buds and went through their lists and saw the Para ordnance ,http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_53/products_id/11773, and now this is on my last. i want to make my purchase soon. as i have the new hobby bug in me. i felt a few 1911 at the LGS and they feel great. including the pt1911 but i keep getting mixed reviews from the brand to the actual model. more good than bad but again if i have the extra cash, i'm willing to spend it to get the right thing at once you know?

I emphasize on the difficulties of proper maintenance and it's once of the areas in my hw i haven't studied well. i think i'm just over analyzing that the maintenance is too much of a deal, when it's not. (not the importance, but actually, easier)

do you have any experience with the Springer target or loaded? or the Para i just linked too? does Para have a lifetime warranty? i know Taurus does. do you recommend either one of the model/brands i mentioned?

thanks for the input.

Well first the STI is made in the greatest country in the world- Texas. It has higher quality small parts and some hand fitting. It is also backed by STI's excellent warranty. They are very accurate and reliable guns. I've had 3.

Also if you do a search I believe you see many horror stories with Para. My own experiences with them are equally bad. Primarily poor QC and Customer Service.

Though the STI Spartan not made in Texas, but is made by Armscor in the PI, just like the RIA.

It does have STI small parts and STI's warrantee.

9mm 1911 for small hands is perfect. I bought a Les Baer, but you don't need to spend that much. For a range gun I like the adjustable sights. Don't worry about it getting too dirty in one session. I take a spray bottle of Eezox in the range bag to slick up the rails after 4-500 rounds if I'm shooting all day.

Springfield is good, STI is good, Dan Wesson is good. RIA tactical might be all you need for a starter gun.
