Can anyone give me some advice on installing the barrel assy in a new Baikal MP220. Just got the gun and for the life of me I cannot get the barrel assy on the gun, I have heard that the lockup is tight am I missing a step here or what. I fit the front lug in but it does not seem to go all the way down and when I pull up the barrel to lock it in the rear lug seems to not want to go in at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I looked on youtube but to no avail.
Thanks

Mine was tough at 1st too.... well.... for a little while.

Sometimes it went together fine and other times gave me small fits.

After shooting a few times I took it a part and gave a good cleaning. That helped.

I notice a lot of sharp edges and sometimes the shells were a little fussy getting out so I broke out some really fine sand paper and went to work particularly the extractors and where they fit fit into the recessed area.

There is play/slop in the extractors and I think the sharp edges/burrs on the extractors would get hung up trying to fit into the recessed area when assembling it.

That helped a lot!!!

I also worked the chamber just a little and now the empties slide out easily and will sometimes fall out if held upside down and a little shake. I wasnt going for the cowboy action loose chamber to let them just fall out. maybe some day.

Also, I know youre not supposed to but I also slapped the action shut a couple/few times using the snap of the wrist motion.

Between those two things its really fairly smooth but still stiff in all aspects except for the heavy trigger.

I compare it to a mid 90s 1 ton truck. Stiff... heavy... but gets the job done.

That is akin to flipping the cylinder on a revolver closed - some of the most damaging crap you could do to a gun, especially to the hinge pin - one of the most expensive repairs; also NEVER use sandpaper. Some soft metal brush and oil in a cordless drill will work without damage

Well finally gave up and broght in to the local smith. Seems the extractors were gummed up making installation impossible. Cudos to the gunsmith at Shoot Straight Apopka for fixing it for free.

I took off the really sharp burrs with 600 and then used 1200 grit wet/dry with some oil. When used on a Baikal it leaves a much more polished surface than would ever come from the factory. ;)

I forgot about that. I took the extractor out and that channel was terrible. Sawdust and some sticky substance. I noticed it helped when I cleaned that area from the out side and so I decided to remove the extractor and clean it. Than made a big difference too.

They was saw dust in the trigger area too.
