Looking for some thoughts on loads for this round (200gr SWC SNS Castings).

Nice price in bulk, so looks like a economical buy for plinking. Picked up a box of 500rds. Goal is velocities in the 900+ range for easy recoil.

These are the powders I have and will be fired from my Glock21:
-Titegroup
-CFE Pistol
-HS-6

Has anyone developed some nice loads from any of these three powders?
I appreciate your insight! Thx

I've used HS-6, but generally I use faster powders with LSWC target stuff. That being said, somewhere in the 8.5 grains range. best to work your way up to the most accurate round though.

CFE is supposed to give higher velocities, but for plinking that 800 range seems to produce the most accurate bullseye type loadings.

That's what I shoot. I use 6.0 to 6.5 Autocomp with 200 gr. SWC RNFP cast. Works for me . I shoot them out of a Taurus PT1911. Dead on at 25yds.

Titegroup and start with Hodgdons data, looks like the best choice to me. 4.8 to 5.4 gr. No experience with the 3 powders. CORRECTION- SEE POST BELOW.

I have been shooting bullseye for the last 100 years.
Almost all the bullseye shooters use 3.5 Grains of
bullseye with a 200 grain semi-wadcutter. It's very
accurate and makes the .45 auto a fun to shoot gun.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information Correction. I did use HS-6 in a S&W 645 with a Lyman cast 200 gr lswc @ 9 grs. Shot in 2001 and notes just say OK at 25 yards.

For fun loads I like 5gr of HP38 with a 200gr lead SWC.
I do have this chrono data for 200gr LSMC (MBC coated)
with CFE pistol.
The load seemed to shoot well. I was looking for a lighter load using CFE pistol.
This load is below Hodgdons start charge (7.4gr) but functioned fine in my full size 1911.

How was the accuracy? I've used CFE Pistol in my 200gr plated RN (not SWC) and found it quite accurate out of my various .45 pistols/revolvers.

Sellersm, Was not testing for accuracy was working up loads to met 165 power factor for a
sanctioned IDPA match

So here are the results of a couple loads tested at the range this weekend:

5 rounds tested for each of the two groups:
200gr SWC SNS Castings; 8.2gr HS-6; COAL 1.225 @ 898fps avg
200gr SWC Black Bullets Int’l; 8.3gr HS-6; COAL 1.225 @ 919fps avg

It appears I need to back off just a bit with the powder. These were a bit faster than I was looking for (750-800fps) in a plinking round. But I absolutely love the holes that the SWC put in the target...very clean and easy to see. IMO, HS-6 seems to be a little on the dirty side. The brass is quite dirty after fired.

Also noticed that the SWC's from Black Bullets Int'l ran faster than the SNS Castings bullets. Thinking the coating is a little slicker.

After I find the sweet spot for the HS-6, then I will move on to the Titegroup and CFE Pistol. I have recently picked up some BE-86...excited to see how it performs!
