SNS Casting new coated bullets
SNS Casting has/in the process of adding coated bullets to their line up. They are using the same material to coat them as Bayou Bullets and have gone with a gold color

These are .40s&w 175gr .401 bullets

I loaded these up and did some comparison between Precision Bullets moly coat, Rainier plated, and Montana Gold fmj's.

The first thing I like about SNS casting bullets is the packing, best in the business at packing in shipping your bullets. But they are also very consistent when it comes to bullet weight. I calibrated the scale and weighed out five of each of the above bullets

Weighed out 5 of each:
rainier average 165.10 spread of .7,
mg's 164.74 with .2 spread,
precision moly coat 171.96 with a .8,
and
sns coated 175.8 with .4 spread.

Loaded up all the bullets using the same powder that I use for my competition loads, Titegroup. I use 5.2grain load for 165gr bullet, I use the same load for the 170gr precision moly coat, and will back it down to 5.0 for the 175gr SNS casting. Should be around a 167-169 power factor, but will get some chrono readings on them as well.

I forgot my pistol rest to do accuracy testing, and I am not pleased with the accuracy I was getting for any of the loads, but the SNS grouped the best

I will get chrono info up after Monday and some more accuracy testing done, set up better this time.

Pricing SNS 175gr swc $92/1000,
Montana Gold $168/1000 165gr fmj,
Precision Bullet moly coat 170gr $92.50/1000
and the Rainier instock at midway usa is $119.99/1000 for the 165gr jhp plated.

Ran the rounds over the chrono and I was running way hot on the SNS Casting, the 5.0grains was averaging 1100fps, giving me a power factor of 192. I am going to back it way down 4.5-4.7 and chrono, my goal is 960-970fps for a power factor of 168-170 power factor

Remembered the pistol rest this time, but still was not an idea set up at the range.
The flyer was all me and the way I had the rest set up balancing between a board and standing behind crouching down.

They have 9's, 45's and 40's ready to ship

Just ordered 1000 coated 125gr 9mm bullets. $83 shipped. Shipping is based on weight, $15 to ship my order of 9mm bullets.

I received the bullets on 10-10-13. Bullets looked decent, some were not completely coated though.

Loaded 50 test rounds on 10-11-13. 4.4gr HP-38 under the 125gr bullet.

I got a chance to shoot them today. Not impressed at all. They still smoked as much as my uncoated lead bullets and there was quite a bit of leading in the last 1/3 of the bore.
