I am new to .327 and .30 carbine. I load plenty other stuff but it seems that these two fall into an odd realm. I was hoping that due to case capacity similarity that I could use a single powder for both, but so far I’m not seeing anything that would let me do that.

For .30 carbine I want to load relatively light as my rifle is a Marlin 62 lever action and they are known to have issues with hot ammo beating up the internals.

For .327 I don’t really care where my power levels get to because I have other powders I already stock to give me the more potent ammo which is somewhat silly in my 2” snobby anyways. I think 32 mag level loads to be more appropriate.

Are there any powders out there that could bridge between these two cartridges? Similar bullet weights and similar case capacities (roughly) at similar pressures tells me that there should be a good powder, but again, I’m not finding any published loads that show me a powder that can cross over.

Powders I know I have on hand...
Bullseye, h335, imr4350, trailboss, 3031, cfe223, AA7, AA5, and limited quantities of hp38, 3100, 231, and 4895. There may be others... I think I still have some titegroup.

My main thing on powder selection is having multiple uses for a powder. I don’t want another powder that I use on 1 caliber and if I sell that gun or get bored with it then I’m stuck with that stock. If no bridge from 30m1c to 327 what options make sense for 30carbine that would work with 38spl, or 30-30 as those are my other lower pressure cases.

.327 100 gr Lil gun and imr4227
.30 100 gr and 110 imr4227, 85-110 Lil gun
That's all I got in a quick perusal of hodgdon online

I use Hodgdon Universal in 44 mag, 327 Fed mag and soon in 45-70 and 45 acp. I also have other powders but I like Universal the best, I have 12 lbs on hand.

The problem with published 30 carbine loads is that they are all intended to work in a semi-auto carbine, so they would need to have enough pressure to cycle the gun.

Of the powders you list, and for the guns you list, I would think AA#7 would work well in both, but I don't know if you would find any 30 carbine data for that. Data exist for both calibers using AA#9, though.

Alliant load data shows A2400 as common between 32 H&R Magnum and 30 M1 carbine.

None of the powders you have on hand are really a good fit in my opinion. For mid level loads in both I would probably try power pistol in 327 fed and a starting load of 2400 in 30 carbine. If I had to pick one powder for both it would be 2400 for mid level loads, and H110 for full power.

He implied that his 327 was an LCR snub, so H110 is going to be kinda crazy in it and not a candidate for a lead bullet option. Think 32 H&R, as he mentioned, and then subsonic.

As I posted previously it depends on what bullet used.
When I first got my SW snub I played around with lots of bullets (weights, lead and FMJ) and several powders.

Even out of the snub H110 and 2400 give wicked results. But that said you can use much less powder like Power Pistol and get almost as good,
There is now lots of data out there but her is just the Speer PDF

Here is LONG list with lots of bullets/powder
