Hello. A local gun shop has a couple used revolvers from and estate that i am looking at. Trying to get an idea what i should offer him when i go to check them out.

1. S&W 686-5 7 shot, 2.5 " barrel pre lock. Asking $625 excellent.
2. S&W 686-6 7 shot, 3" barrel with lock. Asking $625 excellent.
3. S&W 13-2 3"barrel blued. Asking $400 excellent.

All three guns again are from an estate look to be fired very little if at all, and appear the be excellent shape. The pre lock smith is probably the one i would really want, but the other 2 would be close seconds. Are these prices fair?

Thanks

Eminently fair. I would be all over all three, if possible.

Even with the lock, the 3" 686 is a bit on the rare side. The 13-2, 3" is another iconic revolver, the last that FBI agents were issued. Probably the best carry gun ever made.

On the two 686's, you might offer $575 each, but I wouldn't be insulted if he were firm on them. The $400 on the 13-2 is a steal. You might offer $375 on it, but $400 is a great price.

The Mod 13 with a 3" bbl is the one I would jump on. I just paid $450 for a shooter 65 with a 3" and it only in Good condion. They seem to command a bit of a premium.

Those prices are reasonable. While I would take Model 12 RB .38 over anything else when it comes to carry revolvers the best value is 13-2 for $400. That is particularly good price if gun is in excellent condition.

Grab the 13! For $400, it is probably a safe bet.

Next, haggle on the 2.5-in prelock 686. It will be a solid shooter and I can picture it riding nicely on a belt holster. $625 sounds steep to me, but then prices on anything used firearms related have been going up and up lately.

I'd shoot him :) an offer on both the 3 inch guns, however the prices as listed aren't out of line. If you cant swing both I'd really go for the model 13, classic revolver and the price is right.

fair price 686

Ok so the 13 is a good price. What is a fair offer for the 686+ 2.5" pre lock. Neither comes with box as far as i can tell....

Thanks

13-2 pricing

It looks like the 13-2 3" has pachmayr's on it. Will this effect the pricing of the gun?
