I have a new Win M70 and a Bushnell E4200 that I need to mount. All my rifles to date either have a rail or are Rugers, so I have yet to mount a scope base. Even my 10/22 came with scope mounted.

So I need suggestions on mounting the Bushnell to the M70, such as 2 piece vs. one piece. Best or easies brand and so on. Thanks.

If you want a fixed set up such that the scope isn't easily/quickly removed and you want to keep the added weight of the rings/base to a minimum, I'd suggest DNZ or Talley Lightweights. You can see THIS thread/poll to get some idea as to what's available and which system people prefer. For a short action I'd go with the Talley's (that's what I did last week for my new Zeiss). For a long action it's a toss up. Bear in mind that the DNZ won't require any lapping at all but the Talley's might.

Here's a link to the DNZ mount for the Winchester 70

DNZ specs .... low should be fine for a 40mm scope.

# Low, .437" to .500", average .469"
# Medium, .562" to .625", average .594"
# High, .687" to .750", average .719"

The Midway link that I posted is for a Winchester 70 WSM (whatever that is). Just make sure you choose the correct version for your rifle.
