Help with stock and forearm change

I have a 870 police model with factory wood stock and forearm.
I'd like to replace it with a synthetic stock/forearm or something like the
knoxx specops stock, but I don't know how to take it off.
I'd appreciate it if you can help. Thank you.

Buttstock is held on with a bolt that goes through the grip area and into the back of the receiver. Nearly all shotgun buttstocks are held on this way, from a basic pump to the fanciest trap gun.

Remove the recoil pad and there is a big hole in the middle of the stock. Down the end of that is the bolt. I don't know what head it has on it on that model, but a small flashlight will show you.

The foreend is removed along with the action bars by removing the magazine cap and the barrel. If you reach inside the receiver through the loading gate (push the metal guide plate thing up and out of your way), there is a piece of spring steel on each side that you press towards the outside of the receiver with your fingers while sliding the foreend forward. It should come out of the receiver along with the bolt and bolt carrier. Do this over a towel on a table to catch anything that falls out. An 870 is really easy to reassemble, but pay attention to what comes out and you won't have to think later.

Once you have the foreend free of the gun, you can remove the wood with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Use the tips of the pliers in the two notches in the threaded ring, to turn the threaded ring that holds the wood onto the metal pieces.

Pay attention to what goes where. Again, an 870 is VERY simple to assemble and reassemble. That's one of its several virtues.

WARNING: Be VERY careful if you try the needle-nose pliers trick.

If you slip, you'll damage the thin fore end tube assembly, and may have to buy another action bar assembly.
