Hi all,

I just received my replacement walnut forearm for the 870P from Remington. Unfortunately, the new forearm is finished somwhat lighter in color than my original forearm, and it doesn't match the stock too well. What would you suggest I use to refinish it a bit darker? This is the shorter police walnut forearm, not the standard 870 version. Thanks for the help.

Chris

I bought three sets of "police" stocks and fore-ends. The stocks were ok but the sanding on the fore-ends was tedious and time consuming. I used "gunstock" on the stocks and fore-ends and the fore-ends all came out lighter. I then used "dark walnut" on the fore-ends". Your results may vary but you will probably are seeing the same thing. I finish off my stocks with Tung Oil satin, they also make a high shine version that I used on some Ishapore .308 stocks.
