I have been shopping for a while now and have been having some problems trying to find my next purchase.

I would like to buy a semi-auto that is 9 MM or better. I have extremely small hands and am having a hard time finding a good fit. I have looked at GLOCKS, XDs, H&K, Smith M&Ps, and Sigs. The tip of my trigger finger barely touches the front of the trigger if I hold the gun so that it lines up squarely on my forearm. I have broken my wrist twice and hard recoil is really painful. I have avoided .45 1911s for that reason. I have nor been able to locate a store that has CZ products in stock so as to try them.

So far the only thing that I have found that fits well is a Browning HiPower but a new one is beyond my budget. I found a used one for $485.00. It is Belgian made with the small military half moon front sight and the small safety. The finish is excellant and the bore is in good shape. The only thing I do not like is that the safety feels "mushy" both engaging and disengaging. Would this be a worthwhile purchase ?

Any other suggestions ? :banghead:

Are there any other recommendations?

Most of the modern polymer framed pistols have interchangeable backstraps so that you can get the gun to fit. The Walther P99, the H&K P2000, the SA XD and S&W's M&P all have this feature, IIRC. I have pretty small hands - short fingers, anyway and can get most of these to fit when gripped properly. I generally can't correctly grip a full-size gun, so I stick with compacts. I bought a Sig P229 and the grip was too thick for me to hold/shoot properly. Sig has a "short trigger" that can be put on that made the gun OK for me. The P239 is a single stack compact that should fit - certainly with a short triggger. A 1911 with thin grips certainly should fit. At the price you're thinking about, you are probably looking at something used.

In your situation I might take a look at a Beretta PX4 in 9mm. I have huge hands and I like the feel of them, but I also know of two local female LEOs with tiny hands who also love them. these women searched for some time for the gun that felt right. They come with different backstraps to further adjust to hand size. I'd love to have one myself, but there have been other things on the list that came first. If I was going to buy another 9mm though right now, that'd be the one.

Price on HighPower

I appreciate the suggestions. I did look at the Beretta but did not care for the safety set up. I have not been able to find a Walther P99 on display of a FN-9. One place had the HK but the price was crazy and the guy that owns the store is of the don't like the price, too bad school.

Is the price on the HighPower that I mentioned decent or is it too much..??

It would be nice if someone could give me an idea

FYI, the XD does not have an interchangeable backstrap. It is, however, small enough for my small hands, both in the 9 and .45. Good luck in your search. The HIgh Power is a great gun, but I don't know enough to advise on price.

Two ideas: original single-stack Smith & Wesson 3913, or a Kahr P9. My wife has smallish hands and really likes the Kahr.

The Kahr's await you. Wrap your paws around a K9 and you will not want to put it down.
And it shoots good as it feels. :)

Keep an eye out for other Browning HiPower's they're great guns. I think the snap of the 9mm, .357 sig, or .40 might be harder on your wrists than a .45. Might want to try it out, because the .45 is more of a push than a sharp snap. CZ's are great guns, but I know for a fact the CZ 75b & 85b are larger guns. I'm not really that familiar with the entire CZ line, but I'm sure they have smaller models to offer.
