I could use some input on my next CZ purchase. I have a Rami for ccw but would like to get a range gun. I had a 75 but even with the alum grips it was a bit to large for my small hands. I really wanted to try the Phantom but I don't think I can wait to see if they will release it in the US, so my choices are either the P01 or the SP01. It is my understanding that the SP01 has a smaller trigger reach than the 75, I have held the P01 which fits my hand perfect, but would like the extra lenth of barrel on the SP. I'm not the best shot so every little bit helps. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I'd go with the SP-01 (personally). I have one and I love it, but I perfer my CZ 75s (got 2). What you really need to do is go with what is most comfortable for you. This will not only make the firearm more pleasant to use, but comfortable to hold, and give you an over all better experience with the firearm.

It's awesome that you've decided on a CZ. They're the best! I've got a friend on this board who is CZ Crazy...I think he's trying to get one of every model. LOL

As for your accuracy, that will come with time and practice. No one picks up a gun for the first time and is shooting 1/2 inch patterns (not normally any how). So don't feel bad, and hey...it gives you a great excuse to go shot that spiffy new gun you just got!

Happy shooting and enjoy that CZ!

I think you would find the P-01 to be very accurate, in spite of the 3.9" barrel length. However, I would say get your hands on as many CZ pistols as you can, to see what works for you. If you don't need the accessory rail, you might look at the PCR model (which I believe is also known as the "Compact").

Now we're talkin treo, now we're talkin!!

gilfo they don't make 'em any better than the SP-01 or the P-01... handle 'em both and shoot 'em both, and if you still don't know... Hell, BUY 'EM BOTH!!! Trust me, you won't regret it... you'll be in love with those babies for a long, long time!!

if you can find one, check out a CZ-100. the grip is very small, and it's all polymer if you like that kind of thing. there's one at my local range for $300, it keeps calling my name every time i see it. but then again, all CZs call my name when i see them. :what:

you can try a 40b with flat grip panels that you can cheaply and quickly make, or the 75 frames with the thin grips (unfortunately $80).

The CZ-100 is an intersting sidearm, but can have a LOOOONG trigger pull. The PCR and PO1 have almost identical grips, and both are great. My PO1 is my all the time sidearm, and it is awesome.
See if you can wrap your hands around a few differant models, "test fit" as it were, and I think you will find one that works well for you!
BTW, the Phantom MAY be available in the US soon...nothing definate.
PS, did you see the RAMI is now available as a decocker? With the extended mag thats 14 rounds on tap in 9mm.

Have 75 compact 9 and also the B in 40...so got the Dan Wesson CBOB in 45acp and love it....best 1911 for the money and best to date...accurate as the duece also...reliable even when dropped in the sand...

armoredman, I need to get an IWB holster for my P-01. What do you think would work for a tall, skinny guy?

CZ 85 Combat in blue = sweet.

I know where you're coming from with the whole small hands thing. The CZ-75 trigger in DA is just too much of a reach for me, and even the grip itself is a little too big for my hand size. I've found the P-01 and the SP-01 to be more ergonomically suitable, much easier to reach the trigger, and much more comfortable in it's grip size and shape.

If you don't need the accessory rail, you might look at the PCR model (which I believe is also known as the "Compact").

The PCR is known as the Compact D, for decocker (at least that is what was stamped on the slide of my wife's PCR). There is also a Compact that has a steel frame & manual safety.

Dirksters right. The PCR preceded the P-01 and has some features the P-01 doesn't like Novak sights and a loaded chamber indicator. The PCR is smaller in the muzzle because it doesn't have a light rail but it does have the lightweight alloy frame which is better for carry. The CZ-75D "PCR" is the best all around CZ pistol IMHO.

The CZ "Compact" models are all steel like the 75B.

+1 for the CZ 100. Yes, the trigger takes awhile to get from here to there, but it's smooth on mine after lots of dry firing and shooting. the ergonomics fit my hands - I can reach the mag release without shifting my grip, which isn't true for some other pistols - and the sights are adjustable.
Also, it's not a model you see every day at the range.
