Forgive my lack of knowledge but how is this ammo going to work without gunpowder?

It works by primer compound ignition alone.

And it works just fine.

Some folks report sticking bullets in longer rifle barrels?

But I have used up at least two bricks of it in the basement function testing and sighting in guns for others. Usually up to 24" barrel rifles of varied and sundry bore condition.

And I have never stuck one yet.

The primer has enough power to push the bullet down a short barrel. If it is shot in a rifle, the bullet will lodge somewhere inside the barrel.

No it won't.
At least none have for me in firing over 1,000 of them.

See above post.

I defer to rc. I've never shot them, I've just seen lots of warnings about them getting stuck in rifle barrels.

They will not cycle semi autos, have a little more than a cap gun pop in a pistol but are almost dead silent in a rifle. I use them in my single shot 22 bolt action and you hear the firing pin hit and the bullet impact more than the firing of the round. Handy to have around.

I have shot a couple thousand of them in rifles and never had one fail to exit the muzzle. I have had some issues with cycling in semi-autos. I shoot them indoors in my shop and enjoy the heck out of them. Good luck!

I have shot them and they don't stick in the rifle barrels, that's their lawyers talking.
They are really quiet in a rifle barrels and are good for quietly dispatching varmits at night in populated areas. You have to be really close though.

2 Choices

Aguila actually manufactures 2 CB rimfire cartridges, The Colibri .22 and the Super Colibri .22. Google "Aguila" and choose "Rimfire" under "Products". There you will find the bullet weights and muzzle velocities. They recommend the "Super" for rifles. I've fired both in various firearms in the basement. The Super in rifles and either in handguns.

I had one not exit a rifle barrel just a few weeks ago. It was the SuperExtra ammo out of (or not ;)) a Remington Model 514. I've shot a good bit of the stuff and I was pretty surprised. At least it was easy to detect since bullet impact is the loudest thing I hear when shooting it.

I'll admit I'd shot quite a bunch of it previously without cleaning. It's pretty dirty stuff. When I pushed out that bullet I found the carbon ring that had formed prevented standard 22LR ammo from fully chambering. I begrudgingly cleaned the chamber and barrel and from now on probably wont shoot more than a box or so of the stuff before sending a few rounds of "lead patch" down the bore.
