I have a friend/co-worker who has been saving up for the past year or so to buy his first gun(s)... Ever since November he has really wanted to buy an EBR or AK because of the possibility of not being able to acquire one in a few years. However, he has also wanted a handgun for home defense, target shooting, etc... and he is also getting his LTCH so that he can carry it.
We went to the range this morning, and then afterward he said he was ready to drop down the benjamens and wanted me to take him to the gun store.
We went, and here is what he came home with:
Springfield Mil-Spec Full-Size 1911
and a Century International Arms AR-15
Now, all I have in the "EBR" department are ak's (they have all been 100% reliable and have served me very well, and I know absolutely nothing about AR-15's. But he wanted to get something different than me and the rest of our co-workers, so he picked out the AR instead.
Any comments about my friends first gun purchase? Should he have gone with something different as far as the rifle is concerned?
Thanks!
