Helpful Excel File for all you C&R Holders (and the rest of you too)

Hello everyone, as some of you know, I received my C&R license in the mail today (4 weeks and 1 day). I ran off 30 or so copies and am getting ready for a mass mailing of my C&R license to as many retailers as possible, first for the ability to order firearms, secondly to get any extra discount (ie Brownell's) and third to receive their catalog. Well, I've decided that I'd make an excel document so that you can easily do a mail merge in word and send out 34 or so letters, FFL's, and print the envelopes in a total of maybe 5 minutes as opposed to hours of labeling by hand. Tomorrow, when I create the form letters I'll probably post them on here also, that way you can modify it as you see fit. Unfortunately, I can't upload an excel document, so it is a zip. I've also posted a .html file, for all of you non-office users out there (both in the zip).

If anyone else has any other addresses for the list let me know. I put in every one that I could fine, minus a few that dealt with really rare weapons that commanded a price into the thousands. I didn't mess with that one and I think most of us recognize the C&R for it bang for the buck aspect. Besides, I don't think that I could plunk down $4000 on a used gun without seeing it first.

If you have downloaded my original file, download it again. I've now put in there envelopes that have the address on them. I made the envelopes size 10 which is the most common size. I've also included a letter for you to put inside along with your FFL.

Basically, now you will be able to send out 34 letters, with your FFL inside, and request a catalog, and print your envelopes in a total of probably 5 minutes. Feel free to edit the letters as you see fit.

If anyone runs into any problems just let me know.

Thanks again! I am having a problem with the word doc - "C&R Letter.doc" When I open it (with Word XP), it is blank...is the problem on my end?

I've never done a mass mailing.I just send them a copy when I order.Rumint says that SARCO and Interordnance don't keep copies of your C&R on file.

I'm not expecting all of the companies to keep the license on file, but if a decent percentage does, it will facilitate ordering in the future. The way I'm figuring, there are probably 5 or 6 sites that are tier 1 sites, with really good prices, and those all keep your license on file. Then there are another 2 sites that need a license to let you see prices. Then there are like 4 that are just gun parts, but give a hefty discount if you send them your license. Then there are maybe 10 places on there that will be sending me a catalog, so that is all the better. The rest...I probably won't order from them, but you never know.

Thanks, Valkman, I had forgot about Midway, even had the page opened when I was making my excel file! I didn't add any additional dealers, except for Midway to my file though. Most of the ones that I didn't have, were eliminated because they were dead or prices were too high. I figure if a place is charging twice as much as the next guy, I'm probably not going to bother shopping there.
