Thanks to everyone for your guidance through the C&R process. My license is sitting next to me right now.

I am quite amazed to be honest, as it took less than a month from the time I placed my application in the mail to the time I got my license. Not bad service, all things considered.

Some questions though arise.

Is there an online database that lists all types of firearms a C&R is eligible to acquire?

I heard some stores like MidWay USA gives discounts to C&R holders, any verification on that?

Lastly, a bit of humor:

The envelope it came in was so plain, and had no indication that it was what it is. I nearly chucked it in the garbage as junk mail. Now, wouldn't THAT have sucked?

Thanks Louie.

Another question popped up regarding the bound book. Does the ATF send me a certain book, or do I just buy any old notepad, call it my book, and go to work? (The kit has not arrived, so if it is one of the kit things, I am simply jumping the gun.)

You need to purchase your own book. Midway and Brownell's have official looking ones. You will get a discount at both sites if you apply as a dealer or gunsmith.

Depending on what you're first purchase will be, perhaps borscht, or sauerkraut, fish and chips, maybe even hamburgers...gifiltefish... plenty of countries with surplus stuff floating around....

What else?

Gotta open a can of Spam or two, "ala Willie and Joe", to celebrate.

Hat's off to Bill Mauldin, God rest his soul.

Alcohol, followed by a puff or two of tobacco while stroking your new (old) firearms of course :D
(I'm joking, don't get hammered and start playing with guns!)

Heffalump Steak

There's a restaurant not far from where I live that serves Bison.

Buffalo steak. Really good. However, acceptable substitutes would be venison, elk, or other game animal of your choice.

Even better if it's taken with your own antique.

Congratulations.

Urinal mint flavored hot dogs from a gunshow where the food stand is always next to the overflowing mens room would be fitting!

Congrats on the FFL now you will go broke like the rest of us who have them!!!!

I propose eating an ethnic meal from every country (not all at once) for every C&R gun you get originates from.

Hey, Thats not a bad idea. Maybe I will try that sometime, though it might be hard to find some nations cusine in many parts of this country. Though you could cook your own special enthic meal.

Ramen noodles....

Because once you get done ordering your new toys from AIM and the other on-line dealers, you won't have any money left for real food! ;)

Vendors I'm aware of that give dealer discounts with a C&R:

Brownell's
Midway USA
Graf and Son
Huntington's
Numerich

There are probably more.

I'm going broke "saving" money from these guys.:what:

May I suggest.........

Huge platters of Venison Ramaki, Washed down with numerous bottles of cheap Champagne...........Essex

While many have offered some fantastic ideas on the food choices, if you are, like many of us, actually an "accumulator" of curio and relics rather than a "collector", you will find the above quote to be most realistic.
