My local gun shop has one of these in. Limited edition, only 2500 made, the shop was surprised they even got ahold of one given they aren't a very big shop.
It's quite stunning in person, with a level of polish to the bluing that surpasses even Colts Royal Blue polish.
I do believe it is also hand engraved, not machine or laser engraved, although I can't confirm that, I'm going by small imperfections I'm seeing in the punch dot patterns.
If I wanted it badly enough I could easily sell a few guns to get it,
But I don't know if a Henry is, or ever will be, worth the $4k they are asking for it.
I'm not very familiar with the Henry large frame brass receiver rifles, are they the same plated brass finish that some of their other guns are?
What do you think? Think this would be a better investment than keeping the 4 or 5 plain jane guns I'd have to sell or trade to get it?
I'm kind of thinking about consolidating my collection from a bunch of nothing-special to a quality over quantity approach, but I'm not sure if this is an appropriate candidate.

That’s a fine looking rifle.
If you’re buying it to shoot, do you reload .44-40? If not, finding ammo will be a bear.

That one is obviously machine engraved. $4000 won't even get you close to hand engraving on that, especially if the price includes the rifle.

Commemoratives generally do not have a great track record for appreciation.

Lots of Colt and Winchester versions with no uptick in value.

I have several Henry levers and am very happy with them. I even have that 44-40 (that what I think it is) in plain Jane brass.
I also have other "old school" levers that are great.

That being said, no matter how well it is built and shoots, I just can't imagine ever getting a return on your investment.

If it knocks your socks off, buy it and shoot the snot out of it.
Don't liquidate other iron to roll the money into that rig.

I have a Henry commemorative rifle that was part of a small fund raiser. Less than a thousand rifles were made and mine has the SN of 1. It is also the first H009BG rifle Henry ever relesed to the public. When I picked it up, a gentleman in the store offered me 5x what I paid for it. I politely declined because the rifle means a lot to me. In this instance, the rifle is a good investment but more of an heirloom piece. Any other special Henrys I would want to look at the same way in order to justify buying one.

I think it's laser engraved. I'd rather pay an engraver $3k.
