Henry Long Ranger in 556

Had to look up the Express Model. Kind of interesting. Might would have considered it. The express has a 16.5 inch barrel vs the standard 20 on my new acquisition. That shorter barrel is also threaded and it appears the furniture is more durable.
Like the classic styling of mine and 20 inch barrel makes for a nice compact package. Suppressor support not needed.
Family is in town this weekend, plus my range is hosting a 4H event, so no chance to sight in and shoot some.
Had to show it off to a few hunting/gun enthusiasts after work today. First comment was this should be a great varmint option when shooting 5.56. They were all impressed with the Sig Whiskey3 scope.

I guess living on the Left Coast the Henry Long Rangers just haven’t made it out here or get bought up so quick I never get to lay my hands on one to check them out. I have considered the .308 model with iron sights but it would help to actually see one.

Congrats on your new rifle @Pistolpositive it looks great.

I will say shooting the Long Ranger was a pleasure. Probably shot 10 magazines this afternoon and no worse for the wear, unlike shooting its predecessor the blr in 30-06. I had a couple of rimfires in the mix as well.
My bore sighting effort was OK. At 25 yards I was right about 4 inches.
I may revisit the mounting of the Sig scope. Not sure I have distance to eye right. In any event with a little effort was able to bullseye at 50 and 100 yards.

Second range session for the Long Ranger today, this time shooting 223. Put about 90 rounds down range at 50 and 100 yards. Kind of surprised no real adjustments needed from the 556.
In any event the gun and scope combo is much more accurate than I am.
More importantly for me is that I am really starting to enjoy center fire rifle shooting.
Need to focus on improving accuracy. The 2 and 3 inch groups per 5 rounds is not very good.
