I had the same problems with my SOCOM and South African surplus. The fired case would stick in the chamber, but the extractor would let go allowing the action to try and chamber another round. I had to let the case cool off to get it out. Very annoying. No problems with Aussie surplus (which I had very little of), but the steel cased chinese stuff was pretty bad. Headspacing checked out well within spec (so said my gunsmith...I'm not that savvy). I finally got tired of it and started using comercial .308 stuff or Lake City when I can find it. No more problems, but it costs alot to feed.
What did SA say they did to fix your issues? I'd be very interested to hear of some way I can go back to shooting South Af surplus!
