Ok so...around 1995 I bought this Heritage Rough Rider. After using it a short while, I noticed that the trigger is just a prong like a piece of scrap metal. Since everything else was fine, I just shrugged and accepted it. Recently I've seen in gun stores the current models have nice customary triggers. It would be $15 (with shipping) to get a new trigger from Heritage and $65 for a local gunsmith's services. Is it worth it? (By the way, in the 1997 issue of 'Shooters Bible' you can see pictured the Heritage revolver with the ugly prong trigger).

I'll be honest, your iron is relatively old. I'd call them up and ask to see if one of their new triggers will fit your iron.

That being said, it's a very very simple trigger. You also have your original trigger as a model, so you could fit a new trigger if need be.

And man , I gotta be honest. That's an ugly ass trigger.

Nice picture nice revolver. I don't normally look at men's triggers but see nothing wrong with what's there. Revolver to be proud of.

Last month, I paid $99.00 plus tax for a new Rough Rider from my lgs. So, "is it worth it"?, no; not when you can buy an entirely new revolver for another twenty more bucks or so.

Yes, they looked up the serial number and told me the new trigger will fit.

Depends on how much you like that iron. If its sentimental or you just can't miss with it-well, I think we've all been guilty of investing more into something than it would bring back ("worth "). But, worth can have different definitions.

My kid gives me something she made, monetary value might be close to zero, to me, last thing I'd part with.

If it's a bit of a wash to you, id just as soon grab a new one for 99 bucks.

A brace of 22 single actions would be a lot of fun. I keep checking out another wrangler for 225 otd..

Ok so...I evaluated all of the good responses and here's what I've decided: I'm going to get the 9 inch barrel model for $200 and eventually get the trigger fixed on the one I have now.

Those guns are so simple that anyone can swap parts. There are videos that walk you through it. Just don’t overtighten anything when you put it back together because the screws on those guns are somewhat easy to strip.

It is just a black trigger in the picture and looks OK to me. The photo isn't sharp enough to show details. I have to ask does it it do it's job like it is supposed to? If it does why change it? What is the main use of the gun? Shooting it or looking at it?

These newer models run about $130 these days, the $ you mention possibly spending in my mind would not justify the cost, not to mention to replace the trigger on an older model may need some modification to the existing reciever to fit a newer trigger... Which will possibly drop the value of it. Not that it is of high collector value anyways, but still presents the same degrading as any firearm would.

The nickle plating is a rare thing on any of the heritage 6 shots. I'm not sure they even offer it today..?

do a search and use the filters for: no CC fees, then just root out the ones with high shipping costs. My ffl only charges $15 on transfers, pistol and long rifle.

I always do the bidding thing, got my fathers a year ago for $73, shipping was $30, and FFL was $20. You just have to know how to bid on auctions.
