Can anyone tell me about these ARs. I'm really not familiar with them. I'm considering a trade for one and want to make sure I have some groundwork. thanks.

Not a good choice.
This manufacturer does not have the reputation of producing a quality product.

Stay well clear of Hesse and Vulcan...

Do a search of these names on this forum...

I believe this is the first time there has been a complete consensus on something here at THR.

Aww, come on guys, they're not that bad-

No. Wait. They're worse.

AVOID.

Run away, unless you can shoot it first to be sure it works.

Then again, do you really WANT to take a chance and shoot one?

Oh wait I'll do one better:

Would you rather have a Vulcan/Hesse gun or a Tec-9?

Tec-9. Something about the cool factor, even if it is junk.

To the OP: Run, don't walk, away from a Hesse/Vulcan.

Hesse and or Vulcan:barf:

I am ashamed to say I can speak from experience on this one. I owned a Vulcan for about three months before doing everything I could to get rid of the cursed thing, as they say I was young and stupid and made a mistake. You wanna talk about buyers remorse, you wanna talk about the worst customer service, the most cheaply made piece of......junk, then talk to me about Vulcan! When I see a Hesse or Vulcan product at gun shows and in stores I silently back away, try not to make eye contact and leave the vicinity, when I get home I stake a shower and recite the Lords Prayer....and I'm not even religious!

How they stay in business under whatever name they choose to go by is a mystery to me:confused:

What are you thinking of trading for it? If its a used VCR I say don't hesitate!

..... why do you think they are now called "Vulcan Arms" instead of Hesse?
Lots of shady folks change their company names yearly (if not more often) so they can take advantage of folks not being aware the 'new cool company' is just a new name for the old den of scoundrels.

Every time I do this I get into trouble!

Hesse Lower lasted for 2 shots. That is 2 bullets down range. Then the butt stock was in my lap. Hesse refused to do anything unless whole rifle was sent to them. The lower was bought stripped, not purchased as part of the whole complete rifle. There was no way the entire rifle would be sent in. (The parts were removed from the Hesse and installed on a DPMS lower, and the resulting rifle has around 500 rounds through it.)

People on the AR forum have accused me of faking the photo. But, no one has ever asked to see the reciever/paper weight in person. I am not the owner, but I did do the test firing. The receiver resides in Dallas, Texas. It is a nice paper weight and door stop. And, anybody can say or post anything on the net. You have to be the judge. I will never buy a Hesse/Vulcan product.

Like I said, I always get in trouble for this!

Wow.

If their lowers do that, I'd be seriously suspicious of their uppers.

:what: We should send a shipment of those to the insurgents in Iraq! Geez how bad at your job must you be for a lower reciever to break like that!!!

Hesse does not make a quality product. I've seen a stainless lower with the pivot pin hole drilled somewhat offset. It was servicable, but the pivot pin head had to be modified so the upper could be assembled to it. Stay away.

Hesse!?!?

I am fairly certain that "Hesse" is a German term for "horrible".

RUN, do not walk, from this boat anchor of a trade....

...and, yes, I do speak from unfortunate experience (with a G3 copy
I inadvertantly bought from an unscrupulous dealer). Poor fitting of
components, and lack of reliability, to say the least.

I removed it from circulation, and the dealer is no longer in business.
