Hi all new here and on the fence

Hi all newby here but have been lurking for a while
Im on the fence, I have a new Winchester 300 Mag but dont really care for it
I have 308 and 7-08, 30-30, 30-06 etc for deer and bears and such. I just dont think ill ever use the 300 enough to want it Ive got the chance to trade for a mint mini14 with a wood handgaurd and 3 factory mags. the mini will be used often would this be a good trade? Need opinions

Guess it depends on what ya have into your Win and the shape of the Mini. Ya want a good plinker? .223 much easier to feed. I would need a little more info to give a more detailed answer..

I think you answered your own question. .300 Mag - don't care for it. Mini 14 - would use often. If the values are close, sounds like a no brainer. I'd definitely do the switch, but I have no use for a .300 Mag, YMMV.

Personally I would have a 181 or 182 series Mini over a new one. So compared, to price of a spanky new Mini. (not as good) I would pounce on that deal. I dont know in the current market, but, there was a time when a factory Ruger 20 rnd mag was a C-note.( I can rationalize any firearms purchase, or trade, been doing it for years.)

Mini is a lot of fun. 300 mag is not that far above your 30-06. Trade for the Mini

Just out of curiosity, why? I thought I had heard that the newer 580 series with thicker barrels performed markedly better in the accuracy department.

I wouldn't want the .300 Win Mag either -- sounds like you got pushed or pulled in that direction and then found how expensive and punishing it can be. And for what? The other calibers!? Great! And if you ever need a little more power and want to consider reloading you can convert your .30-06 to .30-06 Ackley Improved -- I call it the .308 Magnum.

If the finances are about the same, go for it, especially if it is a newer Mini-14 and supposedly more accurate (questionable).
