Hi, My name is Jim and I'm new to your site. I've been browsing for a few days and decided to register.
I purchased my very first gun 2 days ago, a NIB Ruger P89T. I can't wait until the 10th when I can finally pick it up.

For those of you who aren't up to speed on what they make you do here in Cali to get a gun, all I have to say is, what a joke. They make you pass this 30 question test that a 4th grader could have passed. I got all 30 right and I'm actually embarrased to say that I studied for it.

Anyways, this is my first gun and I'm already thinking about my next one, lol. So I'm sure I'll be asking alot of questions.

It's true about buying your third and fourth. Start thinking about your first and second rifle and shotgun. Just imagine what it'd be like if you could take it home with you from the gun show provided you lived in a different state. Spontaneous gratification.

Man, I'd love to go out and buy a few more guns but 2 things are stoping me. 1, I can only buy 1 gun every 30 days here in Cali and 2 (most importantly) I don't have the money. It was a stretch getting the Ruger.

I've already made my way to the range and rented the P89 before I bought it. It was my first time at the range and I felt pretty confident on what I was doing. My girlfriend went with me and she's been shooting a few times before. So I'm not sure an instructor is necessary. But if you think an instructor would be useful, then I'm all ears.
