The trigger definitely takes some getting used to

Can you expand on that? Bullpup kit triggers tend to be strange due to the long mechanical linkage commonly being a metal finger to push the old trigger. Is that the case here or did they replace the trigger altogether?

If you could hang a pump action 30mm grenade launcher under it, it'd be an M41A. Which is what those bullpup Hi Points (especially the 10mm's) always remind me of, and just make them cooler to me.

It's mushy and sloppy and "loose". Little "feel" in either direction. Impossible to release to the reset, if that's how you like to work your trigger.

I put some tape on the face of the rifle's trigger to tighten the linkage a bit. Helps a little.

It may not help with the mushiness but it should lighten the trigger pull.

I have one laying around here somewhere that I haven't installed yet for my 9mm.

How long ago did you buy it? MCARBO recalled several of their Hi-Point upgrades. I don't remember if trigger kits were included. You might want to check on it.

That spring wasn't part of the recall. It was their guide rod and recoil spring that caused a potential issue.

Ya, I had to send mine back, but I couldn't remember if I did the trigger upgrade, too. Getting pretty bad, no? Sheesh ... too many guns ... can't remember what I did to what anymore.

Lifetime warranty, use it! This is a big reason they can sell Hi Points to people is their warranty.
And the warranty covers normal wear and tear? I have actually never seen the aftermarket Hightower stock. As far as the trigger goes, is mushyness not pretty typical in bullpup designs, like the PS90 I have heard has a creepy clunky trigger.

I'd be interested in one of the HP carbines if they come back down to old prices, I saw one recently for $335 but after the upgrades I would be getting pretty close to Ruger PC territory. Now that I've seen this though I'll be on the lookout for a HP carbine if it's a deal....

I've never owned a Hi Point but from what owners say, they have one of the best warranties in the business. I believe it is only for the original purchaser.

Just search Hi Point warranty and it will bring up threads on the Hi Point forums about people blowing up carbines, sending them for warranty and Hi Point fixing or replacing for free.

Their products aren't my cup of tea, other than the carbines, they seem like a bargain and with some aftermarket doodads could be a good option. However, not sure how aftermarket items play with the warranty that would be my concern.

There have been several video's done where people abused them to the point of breaking just to see what the Co would do. They replaced them even then. So unless that changes would not matter if someone managed to wear one out.
As for the "downside's" such as mags and triggers you can only expect so much at their price point. I have a couple of the TNW's and a couple AR's in pistol caliber that are FAR nicer but, they all cost more than twice what one of the HP's run too. That warranty they offer, assuming it has not changed, is what is really impressive. Notice the thread here about the guy who's Just Right Carbine had a KB after he converted it to 10mm. He said the Co blamed using the wrong buffer tube after he bought a conversion from them and they are fixing it but charging his to do so. If that was me I would be more than a little miffed at the place that sold me the conversion then said I had to pay but few places offer the kind of customer care HP seems to offer. Anyone buying one will of course have to have realistic expectations for the cost.

I was just talking about Hi Point's warranty yesterday and while the guns may be ugly and heavy and have poor triggers, unlike the pot metal/Zamak guns of the past like Davis, Lorcin, Jennings, etc. Hi Point makes you a gun that's cheap, will last a relatively long time in a serious caliber, and even if it breaks Hi Point will fix or replace it indefinitely over and over again and send you a free magazine each time they send it back.

That's top tier customer service and not one that I see praised enough on forums. I don't care what the price or material quality is of the gun, any company's CS can give you the run around or hit you up for the shipping or some of the repair costs, but Hi Point doesn't.
