There happens to be a deal I have a chance to get in on. $207 for a Hi-Point .40S&W carbine with Red Dot sight. Another $20 for shipping.

I've heard that Hi-Point pistols are of some of the worst quality, but I don;t know anything about their carbines. Any thoughts?

I have owned one (40S&W) about 4-5 years no problems, fun and accurate,
at the time I paid $220 new.

Hi-Point = High Quality. Check my thread about "The Little Carbine That Could".

Got mine in the 9mm earlier this year. Surprisingly accurate and haven't had a hiccup yet (300+ rounds). Not the prettiest thing, but it works great and fun to shoot.

Bought a 4595 because I could not find a pistol caliber carbine with a realistic price tag, for what I consider a fun range toy, water jug blaster for me and my daughter. The price $260 online, the makers guarantee and the Hi Point Forum put me over the edge. It's had 500 rounds so far. One failure to feed on the last round in the magazine. It's a bunch sturdier than I expected it would be, and if someone on a limited budget asked me about a home defense weapon, I would suggest that this carbine be on the list of what to consider. I'm still testing ammo for it, but so far the accuracy has been just OK. Best group to date of 1 inch at 25 yards. Long term durability....?

But for the price it's a good buy.

The bolt is made out of cast zinc, much like a Hot Wheels car.

It's cheap and damn ugly, but it works better and is more accurate than it has any right to be. The warranty is also exceptional.

I don't want to like it, but it's a good gun and you should get it.

got two of their pistols, and one of the carbines. they all run like a top, hit what I aim at, and are bulky, clunky, and ugly as sin. They do exactly what they were meant to do, go bang, and hit a pie plate for as little expense as possible.

I've never had to use it, but I've heard that Hi-points customer service is quite good.

I'm not a fan of the .40S&W round in general, but the Hi Point Carbines are a great gun for the money. I got a 9mm a few months ago, and have put a few hundred through it, no issues at all. Not a single FTF or FTE. My only complaint is the 10 round magazine capacity.

Just did. Hit it behind the extractor. Nothing. It's funny because the magnet keeps trying to grab the receiver instead.

This is basically what I hear from almost all Hi-point carbine owners. Their pistols seem to be much more hit and miss.

Get it. I sold mine in .40 and wish I had it back. Best autoloader I've ever had for the money, period (flawless function, good accuracy to 50-75 yds, what's not to love?).

I bought an older 9mm model about 3 weeks ago from my buddy that was in need of some cash. I gave $180 for it. So far it has shot just fine and I even killed a small hog with it last week. I have ran about 150 to 200 rounds through it. Only problem I have had is the bolt does not stay screwed in.........I suspect I just need to add a little lok-tite to remedy this.

Buy it! I have a 4095 carbine with a red dot on it and it's superb fun for plinking! Also bought a 995 for my grandson. Those guns are more fun than should be allowed. Accurate and reliable too. And uuuuu-gly.

There's tons of HiPoint haters on this forum and all other gun forums, but then there's those of us that actually know what we're talking about, people that actually OWN and SHOOT them.

My father got a .40 pistol loves it. Great warranty, nothings gone wrong with it, its stupid accurate, and doesn't jam. I liked it so much I bought a 995 and added a cheap Walmart red dot. She puts rounds through the same hole at 100 yards off a bench. Hi-Point FTW!

I have the 995. I was very skeptical at first but after having it at the range I was more then an impressed for the around $200 I paid for it. Im actually looking at getting some type of optic for it been thinking about a Red Dot (any suggestions?). Mostly because they are fairly inexpensive and I cant justify spending half the price of the gun on optics for it. I highly reccomend the gun though. The only down side is the 10 round mags you can find some in 15 round but I havent been able to get them to work and have heard others say they had the same problem.

Thank you fellows. I appreciate all the comments and feelings toward the gun. Several of the guys I work with will be buying into this deal. Me? I found a nice o/u on GunBroker, so.........
