Hi Point 45

very reliable at least with ball which is what I shoot with. Not nearly the fit or finish you'll see with other guns such as Glock, etc. sights are fine. Aftermarket support is almost non existant. Recoil is very manageable but feels different than other autos due to the heavy slide. Concealment is a challenge but I can manage it. I have no idea how many total rounds she'll shoot before a major failure. All in all I love my hi-point 45 but the next time I see a Glock 21 trade-in for 400$ I'll buy it if I have the cash.:)

I only shot one magazine of ball through a friends, but I thought it shot fairly well. Looks kinda funny, but the sights are easy to acquire, its dirt cheap, and all in all its fun to shoot.

I've heard of them going 'boom' on users, but haven't seen any failures first hand. Check this board for more user opinions :)

I had a Hi Point .45 and it never missed a beat from day one. Ate all ammo I fed it like candy. If they ever mess up they have the best customer support and warranty in the industry.
They are good guns "for what they are."

the one i had never failed me in well over 5000rds, FMJ, JHP. it was a fun and accurate pistol but isnt easy to carry or conceal. i use it with a sholder holster that was fine for field carry. i sold it and bought a compact 1911 for easyer CCW. im waiting for the 45 carbine though, should be loads of fun. ;)

I'm waiting for that carbine as well. Hope they release it soon. I heard it had some accuracy bugs they were working out and there's a big backlog of folks wanting the 9 and 40 which is slowing things up.

This is the first time I have heard this. But since people are stuiped anything is possible.

For ~$200 not bad at all. However you may have to work on the mags a bit.

Exceptional value for the money. I have several pistols as well as their carbines. Those who have them, swear by them, the negative stuff out there is purely gossip from those who think that just because they are inexpensive, they must be poor in quality and reliability.
True, aesthetically, they look very utilitarian, and that is what they are suppose to be. I like the utilitarian non nonsense look.
I've never had a problem with them. I have the C9, the JC40 as well as the 45, as well several carbines.
They have been refered to on the web as "saturday night specials"., as die cast tin cans, etc., but in the end, those people have zero experience with them. Most of the firearms media, including gun tests, has given them excellent reviews. (not for aesthetics, but for reliability and function.). I like them, most of my students do as well, its a viable and inexpensive alternative for individuals on a budget. If I evaluated firearms simply on price, that would not be fair. True, usually one gets what they pay for, but with Hi Point, its certainly more than that. They are an exception to the rule. So it would be great if individuals with DIRECT experience with them commented to this thread and not simply gossip.

I don't have any experience with their pistols but do have a .40 carbine. Ugly but very functional. It eats everything I feed it and is accurate. I haven't had any malfunctions with it. I would say go ahead and buy one. Went to the range and let a couple of people shoot it and they changed theire minds about Hi Points afterwards.
