Go ahead and laugh :)

I was just wondering what the deal is with the price on Hi-points 9mm autopistol lately. I used to see them on gun broker and auction arms for $40-80, but now I can't seem to find one for less than $110.

I've been wanting to get a very cheap 9mm plinker so I can take advantage of cheap 9mm ammo prices. Most folks seem to agree that the Hi-point looks like junk, is machined like junk, but is pretty reliable. For the $40 price tag, I am willing to bite. But I can't seem to find any good deals. And no way am I paying over $100 for a Hi-point.

Any thoughts? Anyone have see a cheap Hi-point in Washington State?

I can verify what 7.62 is saying -- the store in my town is selling them for $89.

However, I can't help you about the Washington State part. It is tempting to have something so cheap to shoot with (and abuse) isn't it?

Going price here in Ohio is $99. Never heard of them going for so cheap. Would be worth getting a couple just to have one in case you break the first one.

I guess the cat is out of the bag on these fine weapons. Just like the CZ-75 and the Mak, once word gets out what a great deal it is, they jack up the prices. I wish I would have stocked up when they were unknown and people were selling used ones for $50! I remember seeing some guy on Auction Arms selling 2-3 Hi-Points for $100.

Yea, I'm talking about the 9mm compact. When I got mine I think it was $90. I picked up another standard magazine and a ten round magazine. The ten rounder has an extension that helps with the grip.

It's amazing the things people would rather have than money. :D

Its the 9mm "race gun" model thats clearly superior!

Oh yes.

I recall its superiority last time I had to unjam one with a pocket knife and a screw driver at the range for some guy. I could tell my Hi-Power was jealous as I've never given it that kind of hands on treatment.

Old World Craftmanship - NOT!

Notice the Wilson Combat trigger....when he used to make them with ball peen hammers. I wonder what Col. Cooper thinks of this....thing?:what:

On the other hand, if you pulled this on a BG, he'd start laughing so hard,
you wouldn't have to fire a shot.

I have to side with Tropical Z. I had one and sold it. Not because of accuracy or reliability but because of its bulk and weight. I went DOWN in size to the Glock 26.

My above post was NOT serious! I had a Hi-Point and the LAST word I would use to describe it would be "Fine". I did see them on auction sites for very little money but I still was not tempted. My days of buying cheap new guns was over as soon as I found out that I could get C&R and Mil-surplus guns for about the same amount of money.

The Mil-surplus guns are almost always a better deal on a MUCH better made product. For example, $99 will buy a CZ-52 or a Hi-Point pistol. A Yugo SKS can be had for $89 shipped to your door, I don't even have a an example of a new rifle that can be bought for so little. The Hi-Point carbine even cost more than that!
