Has anyone here bought a Hi-Point 9mm handgun? Or know of someone who has? At a gun show today I noticed some Hi-Points in .380, .40, and .45. But no 9mm's. I'm curious as to how popular they really are.

I've fired a few, they're cheap.. the trigger is horrible... I honestly think for an inexpensive 9MM the Ruger P90 is a lot better.

From everything I've heard, their handguns are hit-or-miss quality-wise, but their carbines are great (I've owned a 995, and they are pretty sweet).

If you're able, I'd save up a little longer and go with a Ruger as mentioned, or a Sigma. Both are a little more, but as I said, Hi-Point handguns are generally considered a bit shaky.

i owned the .45, for under 200.00 its fun. alot heavier than you would think. made in america, lifetime warranty too!? even if your not the first hand owner is hard to complain about.

Closing in on 3000 rounds through my 9mm. One cleaning at 2000 rounds as the manual indicated. 2 FTF's in the first 3 mags. No problems since. Shoots around an inch to inch and a half at 7-10 yards. Your mileage may vary.

They are the best of the saturday night special class.
They are reliable and durable. They are also very cheaply made with all that entails (except unreliable).

Fort Wayne has both .380 and 9MM Hi-Points at it's gun show yesterday. And a good supply...90% of feedback is positive. {I know the gun snobs don't like them, they are pissed off because they spend 3 time the Hi-Point price for a bedroom drawer weapon}. The prices ranged from $125 for a .380 to $149 for a 9MM depending on style.

Getting one {9MM} for the little women.

They are cheap.
They are ugly.

BUT:

They ARE reliable.
They have a lifetime warranty.
The 'gun snobs' hate them, but screw them.:neener:

Good luck finding a C9 cause they sell like hot cakes. Check the pawn shop's too.

I own a C9 for less than a month now and already have over a 1000 rounds through it. They are alot of fun shooting. I have 4 eight rounds magazines and do alot of back to back shooting. Heck my 22, 357, 500 and Mav 88 have been neglected for the past month cause I'm having a blast with a $129 gun.

Heck today I shot over 300 rounds and might just shoot another 300 tomorrow. I hear alot of bad mojo from folks about them but at the range my targets look alot better than there's :neener:

As for being ugly I never notice it while looking through the sights cause I'm putting FMJ's on target. As for the trigger it's better than a Sigma :)

Buy it, try it and if you don't like it post it on the Hi Point web site and it will be gone.

Here's my 7 yard target shooting 2 mags really quick.

I've had mine since March of last year. It's a fun gun to shoot. A lot of people say they're ugly, but cant tell you how many times I get asked at the range if it's an HK.

Like others have said the trigger is not the greatest, but the warranty is. I wouldnt call them of the saturday night special class, but that's just me. To me they are more utilitarian than that. They are a decent gun at a decent price. It's no Sig, but then they they dont pretend to be.

I like mine!

I've had my Hi-Point 9mm (model C9) for about six months. I've put just over 1,800 rounds through it, most of them reloads that I've put together. After the break in period of a few hundred rounds (in which I experienced a few rounds which didn't feed properly), the gun has performed flawlessly.

Say what you will about these made-in-America pistols. They are indeed inexpensive and they are ugly, but they meet a need. My need was to have a gun to keep in my truck, one that I didn't mind getting banged around or scratched now and then. My C9 is precisely that, and I'm mighty pleased to have the little critter as a companion. :D

Corner Pocket

IMHO if its all you can afford then get one , but if you can eat mac and cheese , or tuna salad for a month , then try and get something better lol .

Maybe they have gotten better but my first and last experience with these I bought a 9mm about 2005 and it jammed alot for the first 2000rds. It was not accurate past ten yards and even at ten not great it did not break down cleaning was a joke and it was very cheaply made but it did go bang most of the time. Especially after the first 2000 but still I sold it and did not look back and I like its replacement a P-89 bought for 250$ out of the paper just as heavy but more accurate and I have not had a jam yet had it 2 years now.
