I would not rely on that gun for ANYTHING. It is a low cost lower quality gun. Trade it in on a Glock. While ur at it, you may want to upgrade to a .40 or a .45. I am not too big of a 9mm fan either. I have taken more highpoints off the street from gangbangers than any other gun.

Great guns for the $.I have 2 C9 pistols and a 995 on the way.Never had a malfunction out of my C9s.Perfect truck or boat gun. They are not a Glock or Sig or so forth but work for what they are supposed to do.

I have a 995 carbine, 9mm and it is a blast to shoot. I was going to put a laser sight on it but it was so accurate right out of the box I didn't bother. Winchester white box is cheap ammo for plinking. I love the gun. It may be ugly but it's scary ugly and it will definetly get the job done. I bought a C9 9mm pistol just before Christmas and I love it. It was $190.....prices have gone up thanks to new admin. It is a great gun. I don't think it is ugly at all. I've run about 1000 rounds thru it with not one FTF so far. You have to baby the magazines for the first 15-20 loads. For some reason a new mag will not feed the first cartridge. Spring break in I guess. But after the first few, nom problem. I bought a cheap Crossman airpistol holster at WallyWorld for $6. So, for under $200 with a mag full of Hornady 124 hollow points I'm just as safe as the fellow carrying a Kimber. I have never had a problem with Hi Point and if I do the factory will fix or replace it for free. Shipping is cheap and they send it back with an extra new magazine. Will any of the other companies do that for free? I plan on buying a .40 carbine and a .45 Hi point next. I can buy 5-6 Hi Points for what one 'decent' pistol costs. Yeah, I'm cheap.

The pistol is a great deal, you did good. If you have problems, just send it back for repair. They will fix it free for your lifetime. :)
I would definitely trust my life to it, after I have done a break in period.

Speaking of Hi Point, has anyone heard anything about the alleged .45 carbine that they're working on? If it's as inexpensive as their other guns, I might want to get one for myself when/if it actually comes out.

There is a lot of chatter over it on the hi point forums. Dates keep getting pushed back. The latest rumor is production starts 4/1 ...... april fools day. we'll see. A lot of people waiting on it. Supposedly they will be releasing a new stock as well.

People will talk trash about HiPoints. They are heavy and they won't win any beauty contests, but they go bang every time you pull the trigger. As a very affordable gun, HiPoint has help many a family that can't afford a Glock, Sig, HK, etc. to have a home defense weapon.

Another kudo. Picked one up last week out of curiosity and they do just what they should: shoot every time, accurately. Will it last for 10,000 rounds? Who cares for $159 it cost me. Besides, ain't never shot that much in
any one gun. Its now a keeper in the car. :)

PS: dang thing comes with adj sights and extra ghost ring sight.

I have the 9mm carbine and have not had any trouble with it. Sure its ugly but it fires every time is a ball to shoot, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. What's not to like.....
