Does anyone own one of these? Did I spell it right? Are they really rifles or just long pistols? 40 or 9? I have heard that they are junk or wonderful guns.I am confused. Any input would be appreciated. They seem inexpensive for the type.

Dave, I'm surprised u haven't heard about them. Stay away!!!! One of our fellow highly esteemed, respected members on here says he has had dozens of hipoints "literally blow up in my hands".

Hi point rifles and handguns are reliable weapons with a lifetime warranty regardless of number of owners. Considering their low price point and excellent service, one could make a much worse decision when purchasing a gun. Most of the naysayers have never held a hi-point, and are content to parrot whatever negative things they read about them "somewhere on the internet". I don't own one, but have a good deal of esxperience with the 995, and found it to be a fun little carbine that was 100% reliable and surprisingly accurate. Considering the price of comparable pistol-caliber carbines out there, you get a lot for your dollar with a hipoint carbine

Davek, I agree with u. I have the .45 carbine and love it. I've had the 995 but a friend offered me a like new Browning buckmark for it so of course I took him up on it. I've never had ANY issues with either one. But what about "nub"?

who?

and dozens?.... sounds like a bit of an exaggeration to me........i could see 1 kaboom....maybe 2......but why would you keep shooting them after that many?

now i dont own a hipoint.......but from what ive seen/ heard.....the people that have them, love them......and it seems as though its the people who have never shot one are the ones saying how bad they are.

yeah who? That is the first i have hear of this. I owned one. It was reliable and accurate. I only sold it due to the lack of mags and i wanted the money for a new project.

I'm not naming names but you can prolly find that post in one of the above threads that Dave linked. You can order mags direct from hipoint for I think $18 with free shipping.

to the op, i had the 995ts, ( the new version of the 9mm carbine) I have to be honest, I absolutely loved it. The only down fall is the single stack 10 rnd mags. I sold it cause some one offered me a good deal of money and i was trying to get my AR at the time, but, i am going to buy another one, in my opinion it was reliable (over 1000 rnds and not one hiccup) and very accurate. YOu really cant go wrong.

granted i didnt search through every single post, in every single link.......it would seem the general consensus is that hi point owners lover their guns....

in fact, i had trouble finding any hipoint kabooms that werent caused by bad reloads.......

.....looks like the balls in your court.

The balls not in my court , I love mine. The funny part is when these people get done with their rant about how terrible they are , they then say " I would never own one".

Fallout: I was looking for hi cap mags. I could not find any hi cap mags that would work reliably.

Other than that, the hi point carbine is a good deal. I wish i could have kept it.

so you claim to know a guy who has had DOZENS of kabooms.......yet wont say who.....
.....and you tell him to "STAY AWAY!!!!"

...you then go on to claim that you own one and love it.....

....am i missing something here?

I'd think he is relaying the fact that there is someone on the board who dogs Hipoints claiming they'll blow up in the user's hands, are dangerous, and has experienced this malady. He is doing this without calling out names. He is also relaying to us, the readers, that he loves his Hipoint(s).

Get it?

Apparently you are missing quite a bit. Some, uh, gentleman on this site said he had dozens of kabooms. I was being sarcastic about staying away. Like someone would really continue to shoot a brand gun that has blown up in your hand "literally dozens of times." The Mods frown on people calling others out by name so I won't do it.

that actually makes sense.....

goodness, people need to learn that sarcasm does not translate well in text.....and that they really need to make it FAR more obvious when they are being sarcastic.

between trolls, call of duty 12yr olds, and the general ignorant buffoon on the internet........non-obvious sarcasm can be easy to miss.

I like my 9mm carbine but the two promag mags I ordered effectively turned it into a single shot . With factory mags its great

My wife and I each have one in .40. They are great, cheap, ugly, reliable, accurate shooters. Did I mention ugly. I have a .40 handgun too, but I've never fired it. Looks like a boat anchor. But the carbines are really solid guns. Worth more than the price I paid. I don't believe any BS about them blowing up!

u can use 15 round high cap 1911 mags.

This is correct but (and I have no direct experience with this yet, other than a youtube video) the mags need to be modifed. Once modified, they will work in the Hi Point, but can no longer be used in a 1911.

That said, I own the 995TS carbine and love it. I'm still trying to find an optic for it that suits me, but the rifle is fine. I also own the Hi Point .45 pistol. Love that one too. Big, ugly heavy guns with no frills that shoot fine, go bang every time, and are fairly, surprisingly accurate. In this case, you get more than you pay for.

I've got one in 9mm, it works fine, and I have put several hundred rounds through it, with absolutely no malfunctions. It seems to be farily accurate, and I like the post in ring front sight, which for me instinctively centers in the peep. I wish the AR-15 had this option for a front sight.

Now, the downside, I think it's uglier than a prison zip gun made from rusted water pipe, and the plastic stock is very soft and deforms easily. The slap from the bolt transfers through the stock (which is the recoil buffer) right to my cheek like someone slapped me with each shot fired. Call me shallow, but I really prefer to shoot something which is easier on the eyes, like a nice classic wood and steel lever action.

Consequently, I really don't shoot the Hi Point that much, and wish I would have appled the $149 that I paid for it into a different gun.

I think it's the soft plastic stock, which feels like it would soften into spaghetti in the sunlight which really turns me off about the gun. The action of the rifle is really kind of innovative. Now, if someone just made good furnature for the Hi-Point, then you'd have something.
