My old Pachmayr Signature grips are wearing out quickly, and I can’t seem to find them available anywhere. I have/want the kind with the checkered front and back strap, not the finger groove model.

And… I wouldn’t mind suggestions on your favorite source for Hi-power grips of any kind. I’m not averse to considering nice thin G10 or wood grips!

For wood grips, I like Hogues...they're a bit thinner than stock BHP factory grips and give me a better grip on the gun. YMMv of course. Here's a pic of Cocobola grips on my my Springfield SA35...they fit equally well on my 70-80's 'Practical and Standard' as well. Rod

I just ordered some LOK palm-swell Bogies for my BHP!

Let us know what you think of them once you get them.

Like Rod, I've got Hogues on my Springfield SA-35... I found the factory ones a little, uh, porky, for my tastes... so I'll be curious what you think of your new grips.

My new LOK grips came in today’s mail:

That’s the dark red/black color combination. They almost look like a dark mahogany.

They are very grippy—to the point I may touch them up with sandpaper. But first, a range trip is in order… to be continued.

Range trip today. Left grip is too sharp and left my hand sore. I sandpapered it to my satisfaction and rubbed some oil on it to hide the scuffs. LOK says they use mineral oil at the factory but any kind will do.

I do find the grips totally lock the gun in my hands— much more than the Pachmayr Signature grips they replaced. It did help my accuracy when shooting offhand. I’ll try them again next week and see if they are now smooth enough for me.

One point, the right grip screw came slightly unscrewed while shooting (60 rds). I removed both grips and cleaned the screw threads and holes with alcohol and then put Vibra-Tite on the screw threads and let dry before reassembly. Hopefully that will keep the grips securely in place.

Left grip is too sharp and left my hand sore.

That's what I found with the factory SA grips on my SA-35... sore thumb, and sore pinky. One of the reasons I went with the Hogues was because the thumb grip area was not checkered. I've never had grips 'hurt' me before, and particularly on something as benign as a full-size 9mm.

The old Pachmayr grips still feel great in my hand.

I had those on my old Browning. My Port-assembled BHP's finish was so bad, the front grip strap started to pit from the little bit of shooting I had done with it... the Pachy's wrap- around hid most of it... but talk about 'porky' grips! ...but they sure would shoot.

I went most of my life shooting a BHP with the factory wood on it (a '72 BHP) But then I found rubber hogues (for the '92) and I was hooked. I cant stand the mkIII grips with the thumb shelf

As soon as I got home and before I even took the gun out of the box, I went to the nearest gun store and bought me a set of Pachmayrs for it!

You know, they are very nice grips— but pretty hard to find anywhere since Pachmayr was sold (I forget to whom). That’s why I went to the LOK grips. My old Pachmayrs back strap was disintegrating with age and use. Nothing wrong with Pachmayr Signature grips for the BHP! (If you can find the “no finger grooves” model!)

Craig Spegel Custom Grips. If I remember correctly, they are Delrin. I purchased them over15 years ago. All the other components (i.e. Hammer, Trigger, Slide Release, Mag Release, Ambidextrous Safety and Night Sights came from Cylinder and Slide.

It's funny about those Pachmayr grips for the Hi-Power in that I used the full set, including me not cutting out the front grip strap (something I always did with my 1911s as I felt they made the grip feel it was too wide) and using the separate back strap piece as well.

Those Pachmayrs felt just right and have held up magnificently for quite some time now!
