got my 77/22 mag sighted in perfectly at the 100 yard mark.pleased with the groups(cover them with a quartereasily) but my question may sound ignorant and here it is; the rings do seem kinda high,my p.o.i is shooting around 2"low up to30 yards then it is on at 100.could the rings be the higher ones( the supplied rings higher or med or what)-would this be the reason for the low hits at clos range(and the previous right on 50yds hits and low hits out to 150?) and if so what other sizes of ruger rings can i use to bring the scope closer to the barrel?incidentally the rings are the same size as the back one on my m77 223 and the front one looks smaller on that 223..is it?are the ring sets all interchangable(can i take 2 sets of the front ones_if they are smaller_ and use them as the front and back of my 77/22mag?the scope is not a wide view and a lowered setting scope would not hit the barrel, theres plenty of clearance now.are you confused yet?thanks.

I'm confused, but that is not uncommon-

I would use the lowest rings I could on the Ruger so the objective bell barely clears the barrel and the bolt won't hit the power adjustment ring when opened.

Leupold recommended X-High rings for my Winchester 52B. It's a sporter weight barrel and the bolt throw is a bit over an inch... I fitted a Leupold 4-12x40mm AO in Medium rings and the combination works and looks great!

It sounds as if your set up could use some fine tuning...

the groups are perfect left/right,the 2" high/low issue as really thrown a bug under my fingernail though.i can always move the scope back and use the low sized rings, the bolt shouldnt hit anything.as it stands theres a good half inch gap between the bolt throw at its uppermost and the magnification setting knob on the scope.was going to sell this gun because the 2"thing was bugging me so much but after seeing the groups at 100 yards,i just cant.thanks, ill look for some lower sized ruger rings.
