Hi There!

I’m need some help – maybe I’m measuring the height of my scope rings wrong - and I want to check before I mail order new rings for my CZ 550 FS.

I brought the CZ rifle second hand, and the bloke I brought it from said it had the original medium CZ rings on it…I measured them as shown in the photo…and they’re an inch high. I’m trying to find much lower rings (CZ 550 has a 19mm dovetail, so it’s difficult to find matching rings anyway) but it seems that every page I read doesn’t state any rings as high as 1 inch. Warne states their sizes as .425 (med) and .535 (high)

So even the Warne high rings are half the height of my CZ medium rings? (I’ve checked out CZ-USA and they show the rings I have, but don’t state the size

Anyway, my question is: from the photo, am I measuring the ring height correctly?

Why is there such a big difference between my CZ rings and other medium rings?

Can anybody recommend some really low rings for a CZ 500 (fitted with low power 20mm objective scope)?

Thanks in advance!

Something goofy there with your digital calipers.

That can't possibly be over an inch!

The vernier scale next to the slider says 4/10"'s + a frog-hair.

Looks to me like it is reading centimeters on the digital readout.

That's what I thought too. Something not right with that Mitutoyo. Looks like an internal mis-conversion in the small program. 1.0615cm is 0.418in.

I have a set of calipers just like that, they need to be zero'd. Close the calipers the push the zero button, then remeasure the rings. Bet you get something like .400 - .500

Oh dear...how silly...this is what happens when you're brought up on millimetres and have no idea how big an inch is... then somebody...or many body's point out the obvious... and you slink off to the corner with a very red face!

They now appear to be .400

I appear to be an idiot.

Thanks guys!
