I am looking for a scope to throw on my Ruger #1 Varmint. She shoots so well that I want to put half decent glass on it. I have been looking at the Bushnell Elite 4200 in 6-24X40, or the Weaver Classic V 6-24X42. These scopes are around $350 American, and that is about hte extent of what I can spend right now. I know the Leupolds are the best, but I cannot afford one and I am too impatiient to save. If you can give some opinions on these two scopes, or options on others in the power and price range, it would be appreciated.

Weaver Grand Slam. In your price range, in your power range. Check it out, thank me later.

;) :)

Well, first of all, Leupold is NOT "the best". There are a lot of other scope manufacturers out there that make a much better product when $$$$'s are compared. I just put a Bushnell 4200 Elite 2.5-10X50 with 30mm tube on my A-bolt .300WSM. I couldn't be happier with it. The boss put the 3.5-10X56 Swarovski on his and I can not see $950 difference even at 8:00 pm. It all boils down to how much money you want to spend. Kahles for $600, Bushnell for under $450, Leupold for $500 - $1300 or Simmons 6-24X50 with adjustable objective and target turrets for $79.99.
