High Velocity 22 Ammo in HS Sharpshooter

I'm looking at purchasing a used High Standard Sharpshooter, made at Hamden, and I have a concern regarding "high velocity" 22LR ammo. I have read in a few places that using such ammo can crack the frame of some High Standards and other older guns. I suppose I can see how this could happen, and obviously it would be a big problem. My questions is, what exactly constitutes high velocity in 22LR ammo. Obviously some of the 30 grain 1,750 fps loads I've seen would be out of the question, but it looks like most bulk 22 ammo is pushing 1200-1300 fps at the muzzle. Most target rounds seem to be around 1,000 fps, which I would assume is par for the course as far as standard velocity. My main thing here is that I want to be able shoot bulk (read cheap) 22 ammo out of the pistol for practice, and most, if not all of that is in the 1200-1300 fps range, while the target rounds are obviously more expensive, the CCI Green Label boxes being the least expensive that I can find, but still costing about 3 times what CCI Blazer costs. The boxes are usually labeled high velocity, but I'm not clear if a 1250 fps .22 LR round is going to crack my frame, or if it takes something more potent to do it.
