I have trouble seeing the tiny front sight on my RIA 1911.
I'm looking to replace it with a high-vis sight and the Novak fiber-optic front seems like it would be just the ticket.
The slide will have to have a dovetail milled in it, so I'm interested in folks thoughts on this particular sight, and other high visibility options they might suggest. Not interested in lasers grips, I just want a front sight that "jumps out at me" so to speak.

Frankly, my eyes are bad enough that I really think "the brighter the better" is the way I need to go.....

When wearing my everyday glasses, I can't really even see the front sight with much definition, especially when practicing close-in shooting drills. I need something conspicious.

Don't feel bad. Most people can't see the standard GI sights on 1911's.

That's why there are so few that come from the factory equipped with them and why the after market has so many sights available for the 1911.

I'm a 1911 fan, but my Colt (not a GI model) has 3-dot sights.

Those Dawsons look really good to me. Been thinking about the front for my Glock.

I recently got a new Buckmark with the green fiber-optic sight. I was amazed at how that jumps out! IIRC, the human eye is most sensitive to green.

I've owned a lot of pistols throughout the years and now I'm getting older my eyes aren't what they use to be so I purchased Kimber Aegis with night sights. After complaining about combat sight that came on Ultra II which was distorted from being pressed to heavy but thats another story. Anyway I went to range yesterday and shot my new nite sights the front site is so bright that I had a hard time with accuracy past about ten yards I don't know if this is a mental thing that I will adjust to or if this is just the trade for that type of sight . Which for a carry piece this is probably proper sight but for range work I like small thin front blade still maybe as eyes get worse this won't even be a choice.
