I bought a used hipoint 995 9mm carbine off gun broker this december with 6 mags. The ad for the gun said he had just returned it to hipoint as it was worn out and they replaced almost every part of the gun and sent it back for free.

Its been trouble free for me except one day a couple months ago one of the plastic base plates on one of the mags broke and shot the spring and follower out. I set it aside and a week ago I called hipoint to ask if I can order a new mag baseplate. She said just give me your address and I'll send one out, didn't even ask for my serial number or anything. Then I asked if I could also order a scope base since I couldn't find one for sale on the website. She said we don't sell those, they are free. Sure enough I got a package in the mail yesterday with a replacement mag baseplate, another as a spare, and a scope mount, absolutely free, no questions asked. Makes a guy feel warm and fuzzy.

Seen here with the finest scope that $9 and an amazon prime account can buy.

Similar experience as well. I bent the firing pin letting my 995 breech block slip putting it back on. Called and they sent me two sets of the new style firing pin/springs and new mainspings.

I for sure will never turn up my nose at a hipoint. They are all crude, but they work and they take care of there customers. I don't think I will ever own one of the pistols but if that's what you can afford to keep by the bedstand, carbine or pistol, I don't think its a bad choice.

ATI stock was discontinued for a long time, glad to see it back. I heard there is some fit issue that may interfere with the function of rifle and cause reliability issue. Also heard Hi Point will remove the ATI stock if you send rifle in with ATI stock for warranty, Better keep your factory stock.

Search for my post (thread) about “The Little Carbine that Could”. I wrote it here in about maybe 2009? Awesome product!

Cool stuff. What a pity other manufacturers do not follow their lead. The arguement could be made that because of the costs of parts for "higher quality" guns they could not be so liberal with such service is erroneous from a business perspective.

Pick a "big name". If they were to do this their reputation would boost their gun sales. If you are selling millions of quality guns - make that read: high QC - you are not going to be handing out that many free parts. In this age, the internet is everything, and news travels fast!

It seems to me that apart from marketing errors, if the guns are good, they work, and your customer service is outstanding - above and beyond - you're going to sell A LOT of guns. And customers will come back for another one.

I do not currently have one, but I may have to go out and buy a Hipoint on principle just to support them!

I was just going to say that somebody will probably buy a hipoint because of this thread. I just wanted an occasional play thing and a big part of what pushed me over to buying one rather than some other kind of 9mm carbine was because I knew the customer service would be there.

What ive read is that the plastic band holding the barrel at the front of the ATI stock can soften from heat and allow too much movement, eventually causing warping of the action. I havent quite figured out the mechanics of how warping happens, but if the guys at Hi point feel its an issue i believe its probably true. Personally ive only got one mag for my 995, and dont mag dump, so at this point im willing to risk it and keep my gun in the ati stock...it looks alot better imo.

besides im the second owner, and ive poked all kindsa holes in the receiver cover, stock, and dinked with the trigger enough i wouldnt ask them to warranty my rifle anyway lol.

I have 6 10 round mags and I can’t imagine shooting fast enough to get the barrel hot enough to soften nylon.

Buy a Hi Point, sell it to your brother, he sells it to his co-worker, co-worker sells it to his boss, boss gives it to his nephew, nephew sells it to his cousin, cousin gives it to his uncle, uncle gives it to his ex-wife, ex-wife sells it to her oldest son. Oldest son sends it back to Hi Point and they fix it, no questions asked. Best warranty in the business, bar none.

I think it's the guys dumping redballs that likely have an issue. Mine gets warm if I shoot a hundred or so rounds, but never hot.
